The research topic that I will be investigating is the relationship between high impact sports and their negative health effects, specifically the effort to make these sports safer. The research that I looked at in the past went slightly into the effects of these sports on children. It also made a point of criticizing society on why we feel the way that we do on this issue. Mainly, why we tend to care more about our health in regards to many other issues. The article Don't let kids Play Football, by Bennet Omalu does a good job of providing evidence and reasons on why not to let children play football. My current belief on this issue though is that while these sports have many negative effects, they are too ingrained in our culture to ban…

After reading Scott Fujita’s “Would I Let My Son Play Football,” I would allow my son to play football. Fujita says, “ Here I am questioning whether children should be playing at all, and I’m basically selling the game to children watching at home.”(Fujita, 4) Here, Fujita is contradicting himself, and it shows that even a former professional football player can’t hate the game, despite the harm that comes with it. Fujita also states “.... most parents with young children who played football were most interested in my workout regimen and what supplements I was taking (Fujita, 2).” According to Fujita, football has given him the chance to be stronger, in a physical manner. After seeing how fit football players are able to be, it attracts me…

Football is a very tough sport, even though football has a risk of being in danger once you play it a lot of people still loves playing and watching it. Back in the day football players do not have enough equipment to play the game they only have flimsy leather padding and helmets, which is not enough to protect the players from injuries and casualties because of the dangerous nature of the game complications between the students and college presidents escalate some colleges even banned the sports eventually Roosevelt realized that football is endangered and have…

At every level of football, there are inherent dangers that come with playing the game. These dangers are understood and assumed by all participants, and though the game is more safe than it has ever been, there are still risks that are ever present during a football game. When I played football I understood those risks, and the danger of the game is one of the reasons why I waited until 8th grade to start playing. While I was able to avoid any serious injuries over my five year career, the thought of possible injury caused many of my friends to decide that playing football was not worth the risks. Now while high school football in Connecticut is much different than the level of football that Chris Boreland was playing at, his thinking was…

In conclusion, there is always going to be a negative. Some will argue football is dangerous, say my son can get injured or a concussion, but I still stand behind my claim because he can get injured or a concussion by just walking down the street or riding his bike. I could be here all day talking about what ifs’, but that will not change anything. What ifs’ can happen anywhere that does mean I’m going to live in fear of something happening to my son. I will not limit him from doing something that can lead him to success, such as football that is why I would let my son play…
