The first reason why Japan should enter the WW2 is Japan wants to expand its territory.Japan wanted to be an industrial and military power but lacked resources and space on its home islands. For this reason, it expanded into Korea and Taiwan and eventually Manchuria. It was also a reason why Japan wants to break out of Manchuria and dominate China. 2. Japan had been at war LONG before it broke out in Europe. They were trying to run the British and French out of Asia as well as take over China; their slogan was 'Asia for Asians.' Thing was, they wanted Asia for Japan, not Asians. Their aggression prompted embargoes from the US that eventually led to Pearl Harbor and US entry into the war. Germany only approached them because they thought they could keep the US out of Europe. They were wrong.…

The World War 2 had made a huge impact on Japan in many ways. Why did Japan go to the war? What was the motive of Japan during that period and who was responsible for Japanese aggression that eventually caused complete defeat of Japan in 1945. Many scholars argue the Showa emperor Hirohito was responsible for bringing the war to Japan but some argue that it was the militaristic government that overthrew the emperor’s power and led Japan to the catastrophic war and defeat. The debate over the Hirohito’s war responsibility had started after his deaths and still continues after twenty-six years and it seems, as time passes, there are more historians who argue that Hirohito was responsible for the decision-making that led to the war, therefore,…

There are a few reasons why the Japanese chose to take over Manchuria. One reason is that the Japanese had owed a rail line and had claimed that the Chinese had sabotaged the railway; this was called the Mukden incident. The Japanese then sent in their own troops to Manchuria and claimed that they had acted in self defence and were just resolving that issue.…

The essay titled “Japan’s Decision to ‘Go South,’” by Sumio Hatano and Sadao Asada outlined the events that ended with Japan and the U.S. in war. They described that “to prepare for hostilities with the Anglo-American powers, Japan would have to march into Indochina to obtain raw materials; the United States would counter by imposing an economic embargo; this in turn would compel Japan to seize the Dutch East Indies to secure essential oil, a step that would lead to hostilities with the United States” (135-136). So, Japan felt threatened by countries like the U.S. and Great Britain for several reasons, the first being that Great Britain was at war with Germany, an ally of Japan, and the U.S. was as involved in the war in Europe as it could possibly be, without having actually declared war on Germany, by providing aid to Great Britain (7). Additionally, the U.S. provided aid to China in order to prevent the Japanese Empire from further taking over China. Because Japan felt this threat from the Anglo-American powers, they found it necessary to march into Indochina to procure the materials they needed to…

Second, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because the United States stopped giving Japan oil. The United States gave Japan about 78% of their oil (D). By the United States imposing an embargo on oil shipments to Japan the United States put Japan in a bad situation, causing the country to have a short supply of oil (C). As a result, the country could have become a third class nation. For this reason Japan had been put into the situation to not like America.…

Prior to engaging in the Second World War, Japan was already facing a myriad of problems. It started to depend increasingly on the supply of raw materials, especially that of oil from external sources instead of domestic production. Even though they were faced with these difficulties however, even if they were lacking these resources and experiencing difficulties, Japan was also at that time, building a successful empire of stable industrial foundation, associated with good army and naval strength. The military became powerful part of the government, and this set the stage for trouble.…

A second reason for the attack was oil trade. In the 1930’s 80% of Japans petroleum but in 1941 when they began to try to take over China the U.S. reacted by cutting down the oil imported almost completely. The Japanese were interested in keeping the flow of imported oil coming because they couldn’t produce their own until they made it down and expanded Japan to the Netherlands. Japan only had a few oil reserves so they made very little of their own oil. When the U.S. drastically slowed down the flow of oil to Japan it caused them to attack because if they didn’t they wouldn’t have been able to further progress into China.…

Japan was taking advantage of World War II, and trying to expand its power in the Pacific Ocean. In 1940, Japan signed a treaty with Germany and Italy. So, Roosevelt terminated commercial treaty with the Tokyo government. This upset Japan and hurt them commercially. Still, this does not seem like good enough reason for Japan to bomb the United States, but it was. Japan wanted control in the Pacific, and the US had decoded messages from Japan that stated the war was unavoidable.…
