Many cigarettes nowadays are sold at the state minimum. Cigarettes should be more expensive. One reason why cigarettes should be more expensive is that there would be less people in hospitals. Another reason why cigarettes should be more expensive is because smoking can kill. The negative effects of smoking can harm the human body in many ways. Even though people know the results of smoking too much, they still want to smoke no matter the danger. Another reason why cigarettes should be more expensive is because it not only affects the person smoking, but it can also harm other people who don’t smoke. In the first place, if cigarettes were more expensive, they would keep more people out of hospitals. Cigarettes contain a deadly addictive drug called nicotine. Nicotine is the deadly substance that keeps people addictive to cigarettes. If cigarettes were more expensive, less people would be addicted to the drug. Cigarettes also leave a nasty substance in your lungs. The substance is called tar. Even though people are taught about the dangers as children, they still want to damage their bodies by smoking. Cigarettes are dangerous therefore raising the prices of them should help keep people safe. Another reason why cigarettes should be more expensive is because smoking can kill. Smoking can lead to one of the most dangerous cancer known as lung cancer. Even though there is treatment for lung cancer, there is no cure for it at this point in time. If the cigarette prices were higher, it can save people’s lives by making them hard to afford. On things that I don’t get though is how people want to buy cigarettes in the first place if they know the dangers that come along with it. Smoking can ruin a lot of people’s lives. The last reason why cigarettes should be more expensive is because it not only affects the people smoking, but it can also affect the people that they are smoking around. The smoke that they release is called environmental tobacco smoke. The people they smoke near may not even smoke, but they could get cancer now because they were exposed to the environmental smoke. Cigarettes can even ruin other people’s lives. Although there are products that can help someone get over their addiction of smoking, why should they harm their body in the first place? In conclusion, cigarettes should be more expensive. Cigarettes not only cause cancer, they also ruin your life as well as other peoples. Even now anti-smoking products are being developed to help them stop smoking. Why harm yourself in the first place? Cigarette prices should be raised in order to help stop a major percent of these things from happening. If only we can get people to stop smoking in the first place. Imagine if one of your loved ones smoked and got cancer, what would you do?
