Should Cheerleading Be Considered A Sport?

Is cheerleading a sport? Yes, cheerleading is a sport. Many people argue that it should not be considered a sport. Cheerleading involves physical activity, competing against other cheer teams, and time and work just like any other sport. Cheer leaders put a lot of effort in there routines and practices as do football players when they have a game. My point is, cheerleading should be considered a sport. The first point I would like to raise Is, how is cheerleading different from any other sport? An official sport has to include physical activity, competition, and a winner has to be declared. Cheerleading meets all of those. There is lots of physical movement in cheerleading. They are doing flips, running around, and sometimes there is dance in some of the routines. Cheer does have competition teams and if your competing against another team a winner is obviously going to be declared. Many Americans say, in cheerleading you don’t have an object like a ball. Many sports do not, take cross country for example they don’t use an object but they are still running around and being active just like in cheerleading.
About four years ago a federal judge ruled that cheerleading should not be considered a sport. The American Medical Association thinks differently, they believe cheerleading should be considered a sport. Cheerleading is a very dangerous activity in most occasions. That’s why they think cheerleading should be considered a sport, due to its risks and rigors.The medical association says girls are flipping 10 to 20 feet in the air, and cheerleaders need the same care and help that any other sport
