Shooting to Perfection Basketball is one of the most watched and played sports in the world. There are many aspects of the game of basketball. Such as playing defense, dribbling, passing, and footwork. Most importantly, shooting the basketball. Rather, it’s a layup, free throw, any shot above the three point line, and any shot beyond the three point line. Shooting is the most important because it gives teams their points, the goal is to outshoot opponents and win games. Three steps to remember when shooting a basketball are mental confidence or a positive attitude, a good technique, and practice. The most important factor when shooting a basketball is having a positive attitude or mental confidence. When shooting, if the player has a negative attitude, then the ability to do it decreases. When someone thinks they cannot make a shot, it is a one hundred percent chance that they would not. Being confident and knowing that the shot would go in is a great start to learn how to shoot a basketball. The purpose of …show more content…
Different coaches teach different ways to shoot the basketball. Confidence still plays an important role when shooting the basketball. The technique or proper shooting form also plays a key role when shooting the ball. Tips to remember when learning how to shoot are getting your feet squared up to the basketball goal, place the dominant foot a couple inches ahead of the non-dominant foot, and bend the knees. This is called the base of the jump shot. Other techniques include the hand placement on the ball. Place shooting hand behind and slightly underneath the basketball and place guiding hand on the side of the ball. Then raise the ball above the head, make sure the elbow is lined up with the goal and release the shot. Everything is in one motion. Different coaches teaches different ways to shoot the basketball, but this is the most common technique
