Margins:
Go to the “Page Layout” tab
Click “Margins”
Click “Normal” which sets all 4 margins at 1”

Font
From the “Home” tab click the arrow in the bottom right corner of the Font section
In the font box select “Times New Roman”
In the size box select “12”
OPTIONAL: Click “Default…” and then “Yes” if you want to use this Times New Roman 12pt as the default font on all other documents created after this point

Line & Paragraph Spacing
In the “Home” tab click the arrow in the bottom right corner of the “Paragraph” section
In the “Spacing” section select “0pt” in the “Before” and “After” boxes
In the “Line Spacing” option select “Double”
OPTIONAL: Click “Default…” and then “Yes” to make these options the default settings for all documents created after this point.

APA Header: This will be accomplished in 3 parts.
Create the Header with “Running Head” Text
Be sure your cursor is on your title page (page 1)
From the “Insert” tab click “Header” and then “Edit Header”
Type in your “Running Head” (see APA 8.03, p. 229). On page 1 this will have the words “Running Head:” followed by an abbreviated title.

Add Page Numbering to the Header
You should still be inside the header, editing the text. If you are not, from the “Insert” tab click “Header” and then “Edit Header.”
Place the cursor at the end of your Running Head text.
Move the I-beam pointer until you see the “Align Right” icon
Double-click, and then type one space.
From the “Design” tab click “Page Number,” “Current Position,” and “Plain Number.”
Ensure that the “Header from Top” is set at 0.5”

Set the Header for Page 2
Be sure your cursor is at the end of your title page (page 1)
From the “Page Layout” tab click “Breaks” and then “Next Page”
From the “Insert” tab click “Header” and then “Edit Header”
In the “Navigation” section of the “Design” tab
