Senior Paper
One of the most important assignments in a high school student’s career is the Senior Paper. This paper can decide how a student will end their senior year. Obviously, this puts a lot of stress on the student and can make this paper seem like the hardest assignment they have ever had. It is very important, therefore, for a teacher to have feedback from students on how they could make this process simpler. From personal experience, I hope to give my opinions on how well the process was handled for my class and how to improve this process for future classes. Personally, I found that Noodle Tools was an incredibly helpful tool while I was creating my senior paper. After an initial learning curve, I was able to easily input sources and create notecards using Noodle Tools. Having the due dates for notecards also helped me constantly add to my research for my paper. Some students prefer physical sources of note taking, such as paper notes. However, I found that Noodle Tools was much more convenient and time saving than handwritten notes. In fact, I believe the easiest part of the senior paper was creating a work-cited page using noodle tools. For the most part, I simply had to find the APA citing in the database provided by Lewis and Clark College …show more content…
Research, in particular, was difficult while using the Lewis and Clark database. The database was often confusing and hard to navigate. The database was probably the hardest part of the senior paper because no matter what search criteria you used, you often had to sift through a lot of data just to get to something usable. If I had to give one suggestion for a change in curriculum, I would suggest a training period for students to learn how to use the database properly. This paper did teach me how to look for sources in unlikely ways, however. This paper also taught me to look for outside help, in this case the Lewis and Clark paper checking

Fear and compassion are two very different feelings that equally drive individuals. Many assume that fear and compassion have absolutely no relationship due to the fact that they are polar opposite emotions that people usually do not associate with each other. Even though they are two very different emotions, fear can be used to express one’s inner compassion. Fear and compassion are two of the most prevalent emotions used in regular human interaction, but unlike compassion, fear is obviously dreaded in society due to the fact that humans in general do like to face and deal with adverse conditions. Leslie Bell, in Hard to Get: Twenty-Something Women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom, talks about women in early their twenties facing fear about their identities. Robert Thurman’s “Wisdom” speaks about how his experience of becoming a monk taught him to release his inner “self”. And Charles Siebert speaks about the relationship between humans and elephants in the “Elephant Crackup”. Through all of these stories it is clear and apparent that deep and intense fear drives and motivates individuals to become much more compassionate and understanding.…

Senioritis is a serious illness that dates back to the mid nineteenth century. Students in their final year of basic education are frequently plagued with this ailment, however it is not limited purely to students in their final year. It is not uncommon for students to be infected with senioritis prior to their final year of school, however for the vast majority senioritis strikes during their senior year. Common symptoms of senioritis include, but are not limited to: laziness, persistent procrastination, ABAS (Acute Bad Attitude Syndrome), frequent daydreaming, acute onset fatigue, stress, and in some extreme cases a sense of wanderlust that can only be cured by great geographical distance from their hometown. They will be allowed to choose a topic that relates to the subject material they are currently learning. To write a quality paper the students will need to research their topic thoroughly and determine a position they would like to argue for or against. Then, they will need to understand the counter-arguments of their stance and construct a high-quality defense for their topic while acknowledging where it may be lacking in support. Students will feel a sense of autonomy because they will be allowed to choose what they will write about and simultaneously improve their critical thinking skills in the process. Further, students will be provided with a rubric that will outline what is expected of them but they will have plenty of maneuverability within the parameters of the assignment. Through observation and criterion-referenced assessment, the teacher will receive a clearer understanding of the students’…

National Honor Society is known for having extraordinary students whom possess strong leadership, constant determination, and also structured character. Though there are various students who have what it takes to become a member of the National Honor Society I feel that I should be one of them. From the beginning of my Freshmen year, I had a strong desire to find my path early in life and choose a career I would like to pursue as time went on. Realizing my passion for shopping was just the beginning, and though most girls all have this love for clothes I saw it differently, and began to explore the fashion industry by researching and reading up on the latest news. The electives I took in 9th grade, which were studio and art and fashion illustration both had a large impact on my future and also provoked my desire and curiosity for the artistic side of the fashion world. Getting very high grades in these courses made me acknowledge my ability to draw and learn how to sketch fashion designs and learn about the career of illustration in fashion, giving me more confidence in choosing my direction in this field. As my sophomore year began, I explored a different side of the fashion industry and enrolled myself in fashion marketing and also fashion apparel and accessories, but also stuck to the arts by taking drawing. In my fashion apparel and accessories class my teacher privately selected 6 people from the class to partner up in twos and compete in the famous DECA competition. Out of three hundred people, my partner and I competed in advertising and placed honorable mention. This showed that out of all those people my partner and I’s work paid off, and my teacher found us to be unique among our class. Because of my teacher Ms. Ehrhardt and also my fashion illustration/ art teachers Mrs. Copolla and Ms. Syska I became extremely inspired to do something about my newfound passion and sign up for FIT’s precollege workshop classes to gain better experience of this fashion…
