Did you know that Selena Gomez became famous when she was 8 years old? She was raised by a teenage mother and grew up poor. She really wanted to be on TV so her mom found her an audition for "Barney and Friends" and she got the role . Over the years Selena has won 38 awards. Selena is one of the most entertaining performers of her generation.
Selena Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on July 22,1992. Her mother Mandy Teefey was single and only 16 years old when she had Selena. Since she didn't have a lot of money, it was difficult for her mom to put food on the table. "I remember my mom would run out of gas all the time and we'd sit there and have to go through the car and get quarters and help her get gas" Selena said. When she was 9, she a little role in "Barney and friends." When she was 12 she was on an episode of "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody." She also went to a middle school called " Danny Jones Middle School "in Grand Prairie ,Texas. Selena started to sing live in 2008 when she was 16 years old.

Since a few years ago Selena had to overcome her malnutrition and her lupus which did lead her to getting a lot of hate and getting really bad depression. For that reason she stopped working on music for a little while. She recently had to go to the doctor because she was having a really bad anxiety attack.
I'm going to compare and contrast Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande. Ariana was born on June 26,1993 in Boca Raton , Florida. She is 11 months younger than Selena. Selena is an alto and Ariana is a soprano in singing vocal range.Selena had a hard childhood and Ariana had good/weird childhood. Ariana started her career on Broadway and Selena started her career on TV. Selena has lupus and Ariana is hypoglycemic. Ariana's inspiration is Whitney Houston and Selena's inspiration is Christina Aguilera. They've won similar awards for being actresses and
