Satan And The Spirit Worldview
Lesson six talks about Satan and the spirit world. According to the lesson, men have a vague understanding of Heaven and spiritual things, so much so that it is hard for them to grasp the realities of the spirit world. All we know is what the Bible unveils. The lesson introduces us to the spirit world – all the divers spirit-beings that dwell in the unseen material world about us – which is inclusive of all the heavens as well as the underworld of departed spirits, even the invisible things on Earth. It begins by defining some if the the different classes of angelic being called: Seraphim, Cherubim, Zoa or Living Creatures, Spirit Horses & Chariot Drivers, Archangels, Common Angels, Satan's Angels, and Fallen Angels. As we go deeper into the …show more content…
From the lesson we can see that several angelic beings are mentioned in the Bible. There is a multitude of different classes of angelic beings include: (1) Seraphim; (2) Cherubim; (3) Zoa or Living creatures; (4) Spirit Horses and Chariot Drivers; (5) Archangels; (6) Common Angels; (7) Satan's Angels; (8) Fallen Angels; and (9) Other Spirit Beings. The angelic beings called Seraphim are only mentioned twice in the Bible in Isaiah 6:1-7. Seraphim comes from the Hebrew term Saraph meaning burning and fiery. Seraphims are depicted as having six wings: 2 that cover their faces, 2 that cover their feet, and 2 that are used to fly. The angelic beings called Cherubim are mentioned several times in the Bible in several passages of scripture ( Ezekiel 1:5-28; 8:1-4; 10:1-22, & Gen 3:24). Cherubim comes from the Hebrew word Keruwb meaning a cherub or imaginary figure. They look like men except that each have four faces (those of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle) and four wings (two wings join tip to tip and the other two cover their bodies) and feet like a …show more content…
Their general appearance is like fire and lightning and move with the speed of lighting. They are connected to wheels, which look like a wheel within a wheel. The wheels are very high and look like a beryl and have many eyes in them. They have a firmament over their heads colored like crystal. Above this firmament there is a throne on which God sits and He has the appearance of man. Fire and lightning and glory are all about the throne and a rainbow is round about the throne. Cherubims drove man from Eden and guarded the Tree of Life. In Revelation 4:6-9, Zoa or living creatures are angelic being similar to the cherubim, except that they have only one head and each are full of eyes (in front and behind). They are like seraphims in that the have six wings. One has a face of a lion, one has the face of a calf, one has the face of a man, and the other has a face like that of a flying eagle. Day and night they cry “Holy, holy, holy” to God. In this particular passage, the word translated beast is zoa meaning living creature. They are depicted as having harps and singing and worshipping God in Revelation 4:6-5:14. They are also see in other scenes of the Book of Revelation saying and doing things such as man does ( Revelation 6:1-8; 7:11; 14:3, 9-11; 15:7;

    World trees are a prevalent element occurring in the astrologies, creation accounts and iconographies of the pre-Columbian cultures of Mesoamerica. Mayan world trees embodied the four cardinal directions, which also serve to represent the four-fold nature of a central world tree, “A sort of axis mundi which connects the planes of the Underworld and the sky, with that of the terrestrial realm” (Parker, Maya Cosmos). Often, world trees were represented by the king, who was said to have been chosen by the gods, and was the only being on Earth able to connect the planes of the sky and the underworld with the Earth.…

    51) “verily, verily” The word is transcribed into our Amen. John never, like the other Evangelists, uses the single verily, and like the single word in the Synopsis’s, it is used only by Christ. “Open” is the perfect participle. The participle signifies standing open, and is used in the story of Stephen’s martyrdom, Acts 7: 56 compare to Isaiah. 64:50. The image presented to the true Israelite is drawn from the history of his ancestor Jacob (Genesis 28: 12). The “Angels” used with the exception of (John 12: 29 and John 20: 13), John does not use the word “angel” elsewhere in the Gospel or in the Epistles, and does not refer to their being or ministry. Trench (“Studies in the Gospels”) cites a beautiful passage of Plato as suggestive of Lord’s words. Plato is speaking of love. “He is a great spirit, and like all spirits he is intermediate between the divine and the mortal. He interprets between gods and men, conveying to the gods the prayers and sacrifices of men, and to men the commands and replies of the gods, he is the mediator who spans the chasm which divides them, and in him all is bound together, and through him the acts of the prophet and the priest, their sacrifices mysteries and charms not with all prophets and incantation find their way. For God mingles not with man, but through Love all the intercourse and speech of God with man, whether awake or asleep, is carried on” ( “ Symposium,” 203). “Son of man” we can see on Luke 6: 22. Notice the titles…

    The church wanted to recruit people to the Christian religion and so they used features of the gods of other religions in their depiction of the devil (p. 30 Levack). When a witch said that they worshipped a horned beast, they may not have specifically meant the devil, referring to Satan, but a Pagan fertility god instead (p. 34 Levack).…

    When talking about religion you have to get an idea about the ideals and beliefs that religion carries. Satanism represents indulgence instead of abstinence and kindness shown to people who deserve it. It also represent vengeance instead of turning the other cheek when people do you wrong. In theistic satanism they believe that satan is an actual deity or force to revere or worship. While in LaVeyan Satanism is more of an atheistic. According to LaVey, neither God or Satan are actual beings. Instead, Satan is a symbol representing the qualities embraced by Satanists.…

    "There is nothing about man that is not strange to an immortal." This is the viewpoint of Satan in Mark Twain's “Letters from the Earth”. Throughout this piece, Satan writes to Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel about his observations of mankind. Satan watches us contradict ourselves in our ideas of religion. I believe that man created the idea of God as a way to help us understand the world. We created a set of rules that we are required to follow in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven. When we break one of these rules, we expect forgiveness for our sins, and hope to be accepted into the ultimate place of peace.…

    Before I go into these theories I would like to briefly explain what Nephilim are based on the information that the Bible and my research has provided me. They are mentioned only twice in the Bible in Genesis and Numbers. Starting in Genesis 6:4 the Bible states, “The Nephilim were on the Earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came unto daughters of men, and they bore children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.” In Numbers, Nephilim are mentioned when Moses sends Israelites to spy on the Anak and they return saying in chapter 13:33, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”…

    Since then, the stories of demons and devils have intertwined with our society, leaving behind a long history that includes many appearances by Lucifer, who is often recognised as a demon to many people, to give us the image of the Devil we have today. Jeffrey Burton Russel, an American historian and religious studies scholar analyses the Devil in his own works such as; Satan: The Early Christian Tradition (1981), Lucifer: The Devil in the Middle Ages (1984), and Mephistopheles: The Devil in the Modern World (1986). In The Devil in the Modern World Russel’s third installment of his history of Devil-culture relations, he details the concept of the Devil and how it changed throughout the past centuries. Russel details the past portrayals of the Devil and creates his own definitions based off the studies, writing: “The Devil is the symbol of radical evil. But does he exist, and in what sense? The key to the question is in what sense.” (Russel 18). In what sense do we have to look at when analysing the Devil to this degree? Russel expands on this question through the roots…
