Nephilim
I have discovered so many fascinating things about the Nephilim. I thought that I had originally known quite a bit on the subject. I had also thought that there wasn’t much information on Nephilim out there. Quickly, the Internet proved me wrong. There are theories and speculations all over the place about the half-breeds with everyone trying their best to explain what the mysterious creatures were or even are. Some theories are quite believable and are backed up with some solid (or at least, as solid as religious facts can get) evidence. Other theories are conspiracies that you can easily tell were made up as the theorist went along. Before I go into these theories I would like to briefly explain what Nephilim are based on the information that the Bible and my research has provided me. They are mentioned only twice in the Bible in Genesis and Numbers. Starting in Genesis 6:4 the Bible states, “The Nephilim were on the Earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came unto daughters of men, and they bore children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.” In Numbers, Nephilim are mentioned when Moses sends Israelites to spy on the Anak and they return saying in chapter 13:33, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” This brings me to the fact that the Nephilim are widely recognized to be giants. This is backed up with archaeological evidence of large species during the time of the ancient civilizations. They were renowned for their strength, prowess, and great capacity for sin. Nephilim were also given the Hebrew title, benei elohim, which meant “fallen from heaven”, with the word Nephilim actually deriving from a Hebrew verb meaning “to fall”. They ruled over others by the virtues mentioned just earlier and were considered the tyrants and heroes of Jewish mythology. Now I shall go into the

Although there is no direct evidence and a species language or their language capabilities do not fossilize, coupled with more modern techniques being used today and archeological evidence, it is possible now to study this topic with more success than in previous years. There is a record that supports the suggestion of Homo neandertal speech capabilities. Previous to the recovery of an intact middle paleolithic hyoid bone, the reconstructed vocal tract and the FOXP2 gene, the lack of evidence on the speech capabilities of Homo neandertals led most scholars to regard the topic as unsuitable for serious study (2012) .…

Historians agree that “it appears that the ancient world had settled on no common denominator for his true status” because of his ability to be both mortal and immortal at various times (Suhr 254). Hercules experienced pain and slavery in ways that other gods did not, such as with the case of Omphale or the king (Lopez-Ruiz). Even his parentage is questioned and up for debate, sometimes claiming him as the direct child of Hera and Zeus because of her feeding of him as a babe and the lack of malevolence towards Hercules when he finally is welcomed on Olympus (Loraux 131). This juxtaposition though seemingly unrelated to humanity as a whole, reflects humans’ divine characteristics over the earth, having the ability to destroy or save the planet along with the animals and other people who live. Like Hercules’, humans have been called gods throughout history for their varying abilities that other natural creatures fail to have. In presenting Hercules’ story as a inconsistency as a god and as a human, there is a scope placed on humanity that begs the question: what is a human and what is a god? The differences between the two though vast, seem small in comparison to the distances between animal and man or plants and animals. Hercules’ represents that humanity is qualified for divine and earthly…

Throughout time, humans have embedded ideal values into their key writings. In the modern age, this would take the form of the construction of legal documents and constitutional amendments. Likewise, this took the form of scriptures, myths, and holy texts for the Ancient Hebrews. In these texts, which usually took the form of epics and stories, heroes - not limited to Abraham, Jacob, Samson, Moses, and David - were chosen by God to save, create, or boost Hebrew society in some way, shape, or form. In doing so, the writers characterized these leaders with certain character traits which made them desirable. Even though these traits all had both vices and virtues, out of them, trends between these heroes still showed that being devoted to God was the most desirable and important trait for three main reasons.…

Both the Hebraic and Sumerian accounts of the flood share many of the same elements. For example, the gods directly warn a select few of the impending flood, an ark is built upon the gods’ requests, and both Noah and Utanapishtim are granted immortal qualities—Noah living for more than 600 years, and Utanapishtim living forever. However, the gods in the stories behave in entirely different ways. The Sumerian gods in the Epic of Gilgamesh are often at odds with each other, rendering themselves incapable of acting as a unit. The Hebraic God in The Book of Genesis in The Hebrew Bible possesses the necessary superiority to be an all-powerful leader to humankind.…

Chester Nez was born in Chichiltah in the Navajo Nation walking from 15-20 miles to the grass for their sheep. But you didn’t hear any complains from the Navajo, they have their own little peaceful time. It was about collaborating and sharing. Even though it was a daily routine for them, the population of the livestock grew bigger. In that being said, the federal government than past on a livestock-reduction policy because the sheep were destroying the land by overgrazing. He remembered his Grandma cried that night because more than half of her sheep were dead. When he turned 18, the Marines came to his school. Pearl Harbour had been attacked, the Americans needed more men. The U.S. Marines were looking for a noteworthy type of guy. They got the answer, it had to be the Navajo Indians. Chester Nez was one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers and those 29 original Code Talker were informed of their mission to make an unbreakable code. They devised a code that was the only unbroken code in modern warfare. A connection between Louie Zamperini and Chester Nez is that they both had an unexpected mission. For example Louie is an Olympian, his goal is to break record and wins medal. Chester Nez is just an ordinary Navajo Indians and he faces hardship about his culture and heritage outside of his home. Everythings for them came too fast for them to realize about their past. A question I have for Chester is “Did he see the sheep burned up in the trenches, if he did. How would he describe about what happen at that time. At the Presentation there was a simple powerful saying he says that I would never thought anyone would say. The question was What is one of your most memorable moment you have, “ One of my most memorable moment was herding sheep. said Nez” This tell me that he really care about his grandma’s sheep and that it was a big part of his life. Another question I would as him is, Did he learned anything he thought he would never learned when he went to war?”…

    Greek Hero Cults

In order to answer the question of how the “hero cults” enrich the religious lives of the Greeks, it is important to identify what a hero cult meant to the Greeks. These cults were thought to have originated with the works of Homer due to the nature of his tales portraying humans committing great acts so as to set themselves apart from the ordinary. Now even though they may have been worshiped they were not gods, they were said to have descended to the underworld and their rituals were more like Hecate’s or Persephone’s. There were two exceptions and that was Hercules and Asclepius. They are told as to have a place in heaven with the gods themselves.…

    Giant Goliath, strong in might,
Against young David, stands to fight.

Disdainful then, he called out clear,
Holding forth his sword and spear!
But David running, placed in sling,
One small stone and made it sing!

Guided straight by God's own hand,
Upon the forehead there to land!
That Giant fell to earth to stay,
Giant Goliath, was there slain that day.

Having there no sword his own,
He took the Giant's, and made it known.
Young David, removed that head there clean,
Those Philistines there, by them was seen.
 Three thousand years ago,
That battle fought between two foes.
Goliath slain, that Giant fell
Into the gates of death and hell!

When they saw their champion dead,
Those Philistines , away they fled.
Through David’s faith this deed was done,
And by God's strength this victory won.

That shepherd boy, a warrior grown,
a bravery ruler known,
He played the harp and did there sing,
And grew up then, became the King!
It was in those days of long ago, now this you know,
The battle fought so long ago.
Goliath died, so now we sing
Of David there, God's…

Great post! Although the Hebrews believed That God is one, which formed the religion Monotheism. Their beliefs set them apart from other Eastern civilizations. They also believed that God made honorable commands based on his own integrity. They also thought of themselves to be unique people which set them apart from the rest of the world. By doing so they formed a covenant that God had asked of them. Once this covenant was formed the Hebrews felt as if God expressed the laws he wanted everyone to abide by which we now call the Ten…
