SAN FRANCISCO

Fwanyanga W. Mate & Ibrahim Akinola

San Francisco is one of North America’s most vibrant and robust cities. Located on the west coast of the United States of America, and only about a six to seven hour flight from Calgary, San Francisco is well-known for its great climate, lively culture, and outstanding world-renowned landmarks. With the above in mind, there are two basic reasons of why one should visit San Francisco. First, the city offers many unique attractions in the form of breathtaking parks, beaches, world class museums, sports, recreation, performing arts, and landmarks. Theses attractions are plenty and thus cater to many different tastes and preferences. Second, San Francisco is a relatively inexpensive tourist destination. Therefore, one should visit San Francisco because of the numerous attractions offered, and because it is relatively an inexpensive destination.
In terms of parks and beaches, one should visit the Golden Gate Park and the Baker Beach. The Golden Gate Park is one of the most visited parks in the U.S; it is filled with beautiful gardens, museums, lakes, wildlife and other attractions (www.golden-gate-park.com). Moreover, the Baker Beach provides the tourist with a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge; it is a great site to relax and enjoy the breath taking scenery of the Pacific Ocean and participate in activities such as surfing and swimming.
In addition to the various parks and beaches, one should also visit museums such as Alcatraz. Alcatraz attracts over one million people from around the world and is one of San Francisco’s most popular tourist attractions (www.credorefrence.com/alcatraz). The former maximum security prison on the island is famous for housing some of America’s notorious criminals such as Al Capone (www.credorefrence.com). Moreover, one should also visit the de Young Museum which is the 4th most visited museums in North

After Big Sur and spending the night in Pacifica we went further north to San Francisco. When we spent the night in Pacifica our hotel was right near the ocean. It was such a beautiful view to wake up to. I just absolutely love the sound of the ocean. In San Francisco we went over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a pretty cool thing to see with the views of San Francisco and the ocean. We then went to the park across from the Painted Ladies. The Painted Ladies are the houses that appear in the background of the opening of the original Full House series. It was an awesome thing to go see as I grew up watching Full House and will still watch it from time to time. Once we were done at the park we went to the San Francisco Giants stadium. Although…

Birds were chirping, kids were playing and to top it all of it was a bright sunny day. I also noticed that this fountain is also used as a swimming pool, How exciting! The scenery was really peaceful the park acted like a sort of oasis because you had San Antonio College and the highway on the right than more buildings/ construction on the left. My family and I went to Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is one of the greatest parks in the country with many beautiful sightings. It was established, to protect the land on October 1, 1890. Yosemite sits in the gorgeous state of California. We loved going to Yosemite National Park to enjoy our lives. According to the establisher of this park, John Muir, “It is by far the grandest of all the special temples of nature I was permitted to.” I asked the park ranger how many acres of land is Yosemite made of. He said 748,036 acres. Yosemite is definitely a national treasure. There is soaring cliffs, huge waterfalls, and vast meadows inside the territory of Yosemite. There are many activities you can do. President Theodore Roosevelt said, “There can be nothing in the world more beautiful than the Yosemite, the groves of the giant sequoias and redwoods...and our people should see to it that they are preserved for their children and their children’s children forever, with their majestic beauty all unmarred.”…
