Give a brief description of the life of the saint whose name you have chosen for confirmation.

Saint Rachel was the daughter of Laban and she was an old testament Jewish matriarch. She was the wife of Patriarch Jacob. She had a lot of shame during her marriage about her sterility. Later in life she had two sons, Joseph, who was gifted the many-coloured coat, and Benjamin.

Tell how your saint is like Jesus.

Saint Rachel is like Jesus in that she is selfless like Jesus when he sacrificed his life on the cross for our original sin. Saint Rachel’s husband, Jacob had worked for Rachel’s father Laban in hopes of being able to marry his daughter. Laban instead tricked Jacob into marrying his older daughter Leah. How is your saint an example for you?

Saint Rachel is an example for me because she had true love and passion. Despite the lengthy time she waited for Jacob to marry her, she only allows her love to grow for him. Saint Rachel helps my family because she helps us realize we must have patience for the ones we love and respect their time.

If your saint lived today, do you think they would be active in the Catholic Church? How?

I think Saint Rachel would be very active in the church, I believe she would organize charity for the community to participate in and even work with the children at CCD. I think she would do these things because of her love for children and helping others.

Explain why you think your saint was faithful to Prayer, Sunday Mass and the Beatitudes.

I think my saint was faithful to Prayer, Sunday Mass, and Beatitudes because she relied on God when she was unable to become pregnant. She needed his luck and guidance just as we all do. I think Rachel was faithful to God mostly because she had great morals and was very beautiful, knowing she was so blessed she thanked God for her gifts.

Tell how your saint showed love of neighbor. Also, tell which Works of Mercy ( Corporal or Spiritual) your saint

Saint Barbara is someone who I continuously look up to whom practiced the Christian faith. She has always been considered my family’s favorite saint. Her story inspires me to be a better person and to be true to what I believe in despite what others say. I am amazed at the amount of courage, will, and bravery she had, and I really hope I have courage like that someday. Her story gives me a vivid reminder that their can be anger in our lives but we can control this by being in touch with God’s presence and continue to look up and pray to him no matter what. Also, due to my cultural background, my family firmly believes she was a great saint and therefore we have great devotion and celebrate her feast day, December 4th, annually which we don’t do to any other saints, making me further familiar with her life and background. We…

Before being confirmed, Catholics have to understand why picking a saint for Confirmation is important. Choose wisely and be open to find the right one, because the saints await one’s arrival in eternity and share in the desire for all to reach heaven (Filz 4). Since saints led holy lives and are close to God in heaven, Catholics feel that their prayers are particularly effective (Catholic Online 11). Often Catholics ask a particular saint to pray for them, because the saint would have an interest in the problem…

Well what exactly is the meaning of a true Saint? And what are these characteristics we seem to associate with a sinner? Those saints who have been canonized by the church have sinned, so do we consider them sinners? Or do we only consider those who have committed deadly sins… sinners? Well I honestly think that we are all sinners. The extent or amount of our sins may vary but not one of us can say they we perfect. I strongly feel that you would all agree that Christina is just a regular woman who wanted to care for her family but got caught in the sad aftermath of her large mistake. When we look at the whole character of Christina from beginning to end we will be able to note that she is just a regular person who did commit sins. We can also say that Christina held more saintly characteristics then half the characters in this Book.…

St. Joan is someone who took “no” for an answer and stood up for what she believed in. What was so cool about this was that she was no older than I am now, and she fought as hard as she could just based off of her beliefs. Also, during the 1400s, a woman did not do anything outside of her home, especially without a male. She went against all of the standards that society had and fought for her faith. St. Joan is great role model (especially to women and girls) that helps you realize that you can get out of your comfort zone and trust God, even when things are…
