Therefore they went before the WHS committee and suggested long term strategies were needed to develop more safety. After lengthy research into the current procedures and past records, the WHS devised a number of actions. The actions were designed to address the key finding: those workers didn’t see what the fuss was about WHS. It was devised that training in WHS safety procedures were needed and now Veronica Aged Care Facility has monthly lectures on WHS issues (e.g. what to do in a fire emergency).…

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times by sight and sound even during nap times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, which makes me knowledgeable of caring for accidents or injuries.…
Starting from May, 1999 since Julie Morath joined Children’s Hospital, the hospital had implemented multiple safety initiatives. Under leadership of Julie Morath, the Chief Operating Officer at Children and other executives had assembled a core team of influential people to lead the safety movement. Making certain resident safety involves taking ample measures to offer an environment free of dangers, upholding safety standards by averting any type of injury to the residents’ physical, psychological, and emotional well-being (Rhodes, 2001). Continuing persistence in recognizing hazards and decreasing them must be a main concern of care giving.…
Over the duration of the semester material explained in this course has provided me with more advantageous information than a majority of my classes. I can honestly say that over my college experience this has been my favorite class and I am happy that it was a part of my final semester at Kennesaw. The entire textbook and material has been engaging and relevant towards ambition of service to those in need of assistance. The service learning project assigned in this class was amazingly practical. I initially sought to volunteer with the Cobb County Temporary Protection Order (TPO) Office; while I was approved for the opportunity expediency led me to the victim assistance training program (VAT). Though I am eager to proceed with the TPO…
As a Research Assistant in the Safety Engagement of Saskatchewan Employees in the Mining Industry project (SESEMI), I actively engaged in critical analysis and summary of research papers and documents to provide tangible recommendations that contributes to the improvement of regional workplace safety. Despite efforts to improve healthcare quality and safety, it is widely recognized that there is more work needed to eliminate preventable harm in healthcare system. While a strong and just safety culture has been recognized as a key element for improvement, a critical deficit that has not yet been fully addressed is the lack of protective infrastructure to safeguard responsible, accurate reporting of quality and patient safety outcomes and concerns in most entities ( Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention,2014). In fact, as attention to creating a culture of safety in healthcare organizations has increased, so have concomitant reports of retaliation and intimidation targeting staff who voice concern about safety and quality deficiencies.…
In their work entitled: “The Patient Safety Education Project: An International Collaboration” Emanuel et al (2009), aimed to progress the shift to patient-centric, systems-based medical care through the utilization of high-impact education of health care providers using an advanced “train-the-trainer” dissemination method. They employed a curriculum that included practice advancement toolkits, in order to teach Patient Safety and foster its development among the “end-learners” in their own…
Houghton Refrigeration Company safety training program is very poorly organized. I disagree with their current process of hiring and training new employees. Houghton Refrigeration should not expect newly hired employees to learn a job within ten minutes and perform the job correctly without any prior knowledge of the product they are about to work on. Currently Houghton does not offer orientations. Houghton should offer newly hired employees an orientation where they are given a brief history of the company and the products it offers customers. Houghton should also offer training sessions during the first week of employment so employees can learn the company’s processes. Training sessions should be conducted by a member of management who is engaging and familiar with the products, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements. Training sessions should include safety material -handling techniques, safety rules and regulations, lifting procedures, and proper ways of installing products. This will allow employees to familiarize themselves with safe ways to handle the products they will be working with and give them an opportunity to ask questions. Once the employees show up for their first day they should be assigned to an experienced employee for at least two days to show and monitor the new employees work and assist if needed. The experienced employee could provide the new hire with helpful information or techniques as to how to complete the job effectively and without accidents.…

On this training course I have learnt about the health and safety risks of my work place. (Health and safety manager) taught me the difference between a hazard and a risk also the steps 1-5 on how to identify both then handle them. I learnt how to identify whether it’s a high or low risk and the actions that are required. In this training I got taught and showed how to appropriately use the accident and near miss forms. I also learnt about fire risk and where and how to evacuate myself and service users at the sound of the fire alarm, also who to report to if anybody is left in the building.…
To help prevent lateral violence in nursing, a culture of safety is needed to create and sustain an environment where team members are encouraged to speak up to leaders and peers. Culture of safety is characterized by open and respectful communication among all members of the healthcare team in order to provide safe patient care. It is a culture that supports organizational commitment to continually seeking to improve safety (Institute of Medicine,…
