SAP HANA Case Study
In order to successfully implement SAP HANA the company’s management needs to address a number of critical technological, organisational and managerial issues. Key among these are as follows;

Technological issues
• Data quality and sizing
As with any data solution application, the results of data processing as only as good as the data fed into the system/application. It is based on this that the management needs to analyze the currently existing customer data clearly defining data to be migrated and specifying the data volume to be stored. This will assist in determining the data storage size required by the SAP HANA application and limit extent of unexpected changes during implementation. Each project stage is different with each having distinct contributing factors, objectives and characteristics. Graybar’s management therefore needs to use a standard project methodology, such as the SAP ASAP implementation methodology, to ensure that a project addresses all critical activities, phases, and deliverables necessary for its success. The SAP ASAP methodology has been updated to incorporate SAP HANA activities required for a standard in-memory project. Accelerators, best practices, and implementation tools have also been updated or developed to shorten project timelines and reduce risk. Methodology, timelines, and key activities will vary based on your technical landscape, expectations for in-memory functionality, and use case.
Through project implement and management, the company will therefore ensure successful implementation of the project and avoid expensive do overs. Additionally, Graybar’s management may consider implementing the project in stages as opposed to a one-off implement to monitor its fit and synchronization with on-going business processes.
Data management
All companies need to safe guard sensitive information from unauthorized access. This is due to the risk of data manipulation and misuse. Graybar hence needs to ensure necessary security over data access and operation of the SAP HANA application. This therefore implies that the company needs to assign user rights

    An OLAP application is targeted to deliver most responses to users within about five seconds, with the simplest analyses taking no more than one second and very few taking more than 20 seconds. Impatient users often assume that a process has failed if results are not received with 30 seconds, and they are apt to implement the ‘3 finger salute ' or ‘Alt+Ctrl+Delete ' unless the system warns them that the report will take longer.
