On November 28th, 2015 I attended Ben Stevenson’s version of The Nutcracker which was being performed by the Houston Ballet at the Wortham Theater Center. The dance featured two separate acts and multitude of dances as well as a live orchestra. The Nutcracker demonstrated the Stevenson’s ability to deliver a cohesive performance whilst maintaining the illusion of fantasy using music composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky of the Romantic era, eloquent set design and usage of techniques such as lighting and special effects, as well as precise choreography and overall cohesiveness of the dance and the music.…

I woke awoke that bright sunny day to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining upon my face. It was a peaceful morning, and I relaxed in bed for a couple of minutes and looked forward to my day. I wondered what I would do throughout the day, and like a typical teen during summer break I decided to go out to the mall, grab ice cream, and dip in the pool later that night. Unfortunately my mother informed me that I had to go job hunting.…

Do you know who sang and composed the song “Jingle Bell Rock”? The song “Jingle Bell Rock” was sung by Bobby Helms, and was released in 1957. It was composed by Joseph Carleton Beal and James Ross Boothe, and was considered the first mainstream rock’n’roll christmas song. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the author's use of literary devices in the song “Jingle Bell Rock”. The authors or composers of the song did a good job using the literary devices to bring out the theme because the mood is always happy and says how the people are dancing around, having fun and how christmas is the best time of the year. The song also moves you and makes you want to have fun. Throughout the song there…

The most wonderful time for me as a child was the winter. I will never forget when in late November I was waiting for the first snow. In the morning when I woke up, I looked out of window and saw snow-covered trees and buildings, I could not have been happier. Because snow from the point of view of a 6 year old child, meant really good fun. My friends and I made snowmen, went tobogganing, and pretended to be detectives tracing each other from our footsteps. There were so many things to do.…

A few hours earlier, the meteorologists were predicting yet another blizzard, nineteen inches this time. The black ice on the road was now starting to clear up from last month’s snowfall. I stepped off the train and walked into Shop Rite to gather emergency supplies in the form of Breyer’s Cherry Vanilla ice-cream, Entenmann’s All Butter Loaf, bread and Nyquil. Preparation was key. All public schools were scheduled to be closed the next day due to the inclement weather. This news delighted my then 6 yr. old…
