Rose Philippine Duchesne Research Paper
I chose St. Rose Philippine Duchesne to be my confirmation name. I chose her because she inspires me to follow God, even when it’s tough, and also not to give up. Throughout her life she was dedicated and perseverant. When she was young, her mother and her mother’s sister lived together, so she was always around lots of kids. When she got into her teenage years, her dad put her in a convent to study and be more polite. At first, she did not want to go, but she eventually gave in. After the first month, she loved it, and would spend all her free time praying. Then, her dad started to get worried, because he wanted her to marry eventually. He took her back home. After a year of introducing Rose to suitors, she was miserable. One day, a missionary came to town to talk about his travels. She went to see him, …show more content…
She also didn’t give up that dream of being a Missionary, even though she didn’t come to the United States until she was 49 years old! Once she was allowed to come to the United States, she started many schools, including Academy of the Sacred Heart here in St. Louis! Rose also taught many Native American students about God, even though they were seen as uncivilized and savage during that time. I was most inspired by the story that children would put leaves or paper on her habit while she was praying before they went to bed, and when they woke up, it hadn’t moved. She had been kneeling, praying all night. This story shows incredible devotion to God, and it really encouraged me to be just as devoted. Rose also didn’t want to loose any time she could be preaching, so she died on the trail, instead of being taken home to die a comforting death. She was 83. To be more like St. Rose Duchene, I will pray more often, and this year I will try to work on a service project, and even go on a mission trip if possible, even if I don’t get to, I will try my best to find

Saint Barbara is someone who I continuously look up to whom practiced the Christian faith. She has always been considered my family’s favorite saint. Her story inspires me to be a better person and to be true to what I believe in despite what others say. I am amazed at the amount of courage, will, and bravery she had, and I really hope I have courage like that someday. Her story gives me a vivid reminder that their can be anger in our lives but we can control this by being in touch with God’s presence and continue to look up and pray to him no matter what. Also, due to my cultural background, my family firmly believes she was a great saint and therefore we have great devotion and celebrate her feast day, December 4th, annually which we don’t do to any other saints, making me further familiar with her life and background. We…

Clara Barton, the "angel of the battlefield" inspires me. A time when few girls worked, she became a teacher and soon, with the advent of the Civil War, became involved in humanitarian work. With the Ladies Aid Society, she collected bandages, food and clothing to soldiers. Later, she fought for support to become a nurse during the Civil War. She was a good nurse. Moved by the Swiss Red Cross, at age 60, in Washington D.C., she founded the American Red Cross. Because of Clara Barton, I became more involved with the Red Cross; fundraising, starting a club, becoming an Everyday Hero and Ambassador. Her life taught me the value of giving and leadership. Her life stirs me to go beyond the Red Cross. One day, I hope to create an organization that…

Mother Teresa showed great sacrifice by becoming a nun but, in addition to that she also left her life behind and flew to India. In Calcutta she was assigned to teach at Saint Mary’s High School which was run by the Loreto sisters. Saint Mary’s was a school that taught girls from the city’s poorest families. Mother Teresa dedicated herself to the girls education and always tried to relieve the girl’s pain and suffering through good education. As a result of her kindness and strong commitment to her students education she encouraged them to devote their lives to christ. In a prayer she wrote about the children she said, "Give me the strength to be ever the light of their lives, so that I may lead them at last to you," Later, in 1944 she became the school’s principal. Just like Jesus, Mother Teresa was a teacher for…

My sponsor has been my "role model" throughout this process, but as I begin my Catholic life St. Elizabeth Ann will be my guide. When you first enter 6th grade you are put into one of the first 5 American saints teams, and I was chosen into Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s, but not only that she is a great catholic that someday I hope to become.…

The people I have met, the friends I have made, and the lessons I have learned, have shaped me into the person that I am today. Because of the Sisters of Saint Anne, I am able to receive an excellent education and I’ve been given the motivation I need to apply myself in the future. The sacrifice made by Sister Marie-Anne Blondin serves as an example in my life of all the other sacrifices that have been made in my life, further motivating me to do the best I can in whatever field I choose.…
