Sir Julian Byng was the 12th Governor General of Canada and was the Commander of all the Canadian Corps during the Battle of Vimy Ridge, which meant that he was in charge of all Canadian Corps that fought in the battle. Sir Arthur Currie was the commanding officer of the first Canadian division during the war and was mostly responsible for the winning of the ridge. Currie was the first Canadian General, he got promoted after Julian Byng was promoted and was moved up to a different part of the force. Currie was in the right place at the right time because with Byng moving up, Currie had the chance to command all of the first Canadian corps. Currie was born and raised to fight and command so it wasn’t a difficulty when he was asked to Command the First Canadian Corps.…

People of Verona, we are here today to grieve the loss of a precious child of God and most precious son to the Montague family. Romeo Montague was a young man who was like a son to me who has passed away due to a series of misfortunate events involving; who he believed was the love of his life, Juliet of the house of Captulet and myself. It is a fact that Romeo passed away far too soon however, we can still remember the memories and lessons that Romeo has left with, especially those of peace and the friendship that he believed could be had between the Montague house and the house of Captulet.…

Dallaire did exceptional when it comes to the naming of his essay, by not only simplifying the subject but maintaining the true meaning. “Cri de coeur,” also known as “A cry from the heart”, is not only heartbreaking but truthfully eye opening. Every event recounted is straight from Dallaire’s point of view, which could have made his rhetorical appeals intertwine. It is clear from reading that one appeal stood above the rest while reading, which is pathos. Dallaire decided to share something with the world that a majority have never experienced nor hopefully will ever have to. By doing so, he deliberately unleashed a handful of emotions. Using pathos allowed him to appeal to our emotions as outsiders looking in, opened our eyes to view the story through his and revealed a failure on humanity’s part.…

I really liked Romeo and Juliet because of the amount of irony and foreshadowing in the text. For instance, Romeo says “I dreamt my lady came and found me dead. And breathed such life with kisses in my lips”(V.i.6-9). This is an obvious example of foreshadowing to the upcoming scene where Juliet believes that Romeo is dead, and tries to take the poison from his lips. This quote is also a reference to Mercutio’s Queen Mab speech about how dreamers usually see what they want to see in dreams. I like this quote because it relates something from the past to the future through the present and connects everything together. Another thing that I liked was the amount of irony, which is present in Romeo’s choices from the very beginning of the novel where he firsts states that he is in love with Rosaline by saying “that the all-seeing sun ne’er saw her match since the world first begun”(I.iii.99-100). In this scene we find Romeo pining for Rosaline and saying that there is no one in the world more beautiful than her in the world; but then he somehow instantaneously gets over her after seeing Juliet, where he states that he has “ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (I.v.60). I like irony between these statements because it gives the audience…

Throughout the novel, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, several motifs are used as a way to bring a deeper meaning to quotes that may see you uninteresting from the surface. One very prominent motif in this novel is dreams and premonitions. These motifs are used throughout the novel as ways to introduce foreshadowing and insight into what characters may expect to happen. Most of the occurrences where dreams and premonitions appear are when characters are looking forward to an event or occurrence. In turn, this creates a lot of foreshadowing towards dramatic events that happen all throughout the novel. Several characters experience premonitions before certain events or occurrences that may foreshadow upcoming events. The major purpose…
