Just before dawn, Romeo prepares to lower himself from Juliet’s window to begin his exile. Juliet tries to convince Romeo that the birdcalls they hear are from the nightingale, a night bird, rather than from the lark, a morning bird. Romeo cannot entertain her claims; he must leave before the morning comes or be put to death. Juliet declares that the light outside comes not from the sun, but from some meteor. Overcome by love, Romeo responds that he will stay with Juliet, and that he does not care whether the Prince’s men kill him. Faced with this turnaround, Juliet declares that the bird they heard was the lark; that it is dawn and he must flee. The Nurse enters to warn Juliet that Lady Capulet is approaching. Romeo and Juliet tearfully part. Romeo climbs out the window. Standing in the orchard below her window, Romeo promises Juliet that they will see one another again, but Juliet responds that he appears pale, as one dead in the bottom of a tomb. Romeo answers that, to him, she appears the same way, and that it is only sorrow that makes them both look pale. Romeo hurries away as Juliet pulls in the ladder and begs fate to bring him back to her quickly.…

Romeo and Juliet is a story about two lovers, and the forces that keep them from that love. In the story, Friar acts as a reoccurring figure for advice to the two lovers, however, his advice and actions did not prove worthy. Friar married the two lovers, gave Juliet the sleeping potion that lead to her, Paris, and Romeo's death, and despite faking her death with the sleeping potion he waited until the final day of the potions lifespan to inform Romeo; because of his late delivery, the letter never reached Romeo. Friar married Romeo and Juliet which made them fall into a deeper love than before, affecting how both acted towards others. This change is seen easily by how Romeo responds to Tybalt in Act III, Scene I, as Romeo states that his love for Juliet made him effeminate, and because of Romeo's attitude Tybalt fights Mercutio alone and Mercutio dies.…

Romeo’s behavior when he spies Juliet is smitten at first sight, describing her as "Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!" (I, v, 49). This language is in direct contrast to how he speaks of Rosaline. Rather than objectifying Juliet as he does with Rosaline, he holds Juliet in reverent awe, "Did my heart love till now? For swear it, sight!/ For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night (I, v54-5). Romeo actively pursues Juliet from the beginning. Despite knowing Juliet is a Capulet, Romeo ignores the feud and commits himself to Juliet just as Juliet never considers not loving romeo because he is a montague. She loves him, and even the fact he is her enemy does not tamper her feelings. “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, that I must love a loathed enemy”(a1,s5) Realizing that their interest in each other is both reciprocal and sincere, Romeo presses Juliet for vows of love. After marrying, Romeo's relationship with Juliet becomes even complex and involves others such as the nurse, luckily for them she is understanding as Juliet and the Nurse share a very close bond, one that surpasses one of a girl and her servant. The Nurse has become over the years Juliet's close companion, confidant, friend, mother; and later on in the play her co-conspirator. Juliet is comfortable and at ease speaking to the Nurse. This allows Juliet to take her into her confidence when she decides to defy the family conflict and marry Romeo. The Nurse is an accomplice alongside Friar Laurence in bringing the lovers together and immersed in Juliet's affairs and strives to…

In his most heart-wrenching tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare uses monologue in order to reveal forgiveness within Juliet and to convey the message that true love can conquer any obstacles life puts forth. In his play he establishes the two main teenage lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall madly in love at first sight and get married extremely quickly. Romeo, who was very eager to marry, got into a feud with Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, and ended up killing him. Romeo is then banished from Verona and Juliet had to know if “Tybalt’s death was woe enough if it had ended there” (Romeo and Juliet 3.2.125-26) to forgive Romeo, “Or, if sour woe delights in fellowship and needly will be ranked with other griefs” (3.2.127-28). During the monologue…

    • The Capulet’s are people that like to start fights and say harsh things to the Montague’s; Example: Sampson: “I won’t eat dirt. If a Montague insults me. I will spit on him. And I will spit on all those Montague women too”. This is an example that tells us that the Capulet’s are harsh people who like to start a fight.…

When I originally had heard about the ending to Romeo and Juliet, the idea of a double-suicide was somewhat ignorant to me. After reading this play, I can empathize on what those teens were going through. Love, for the most part, knows no boundaries, bias, or discrimination. This was shown very well in this Shakespeare-written play, and is a great example of showing the many themes that surround love, adolescence, and family rivalries. Although they could’ve handled it differently, it was a poetic way to portray the power of human emotion.…
