Tired and exhausted, Kelly stood next to his/her window, in an attempt to cool down from her run. From inside her apartment, Kelly heard footsteps running up the stairs and someone commanding him/her to “open the damn door.” Unaware of Flanegan’s identity and authority, Kelly did not open the door. Instead, s/he traversed towards the back of her apartment in the furthest direction away from the door, near his/her kitchen window. The stranger broke down Kelly’s door, and proceeded to where Kelly was standing while pointing a gun at her. The stranger identified himself/herself as Police Officer Flanegan and showed Kelly his/her badge hanging around his/her neck. The officer commanded Kelly to turn around with his/her hands in the rear and patted him/her down. Officer Flanegan found nothing on Kelly. Inspecting Kelly’s apartment, the officer spotted a pill bottle on the floor in the corner of the kitchen, which was labeled OXYCODON. Kelly did not own, nor had ever seen the pill bottle before. However, Kelly had thrown a wild party the previous night and said that the bottle could have been left by one of the guests. After, Kelly decided to refrain from answering any more questions because of the police shows she had seen on TV. While continuing to scrutinize Kelly’s apartment, the officer also spotted the open window with the screen pushed up. However, Kelly was residing in an old, decrepit building and the screen was broken and could not be pushed down. Officer Leeds, who had been standing outside said that he had heard a creaky window opening and the sound of something like a knife hitting the ground. Officer Leeds was positioned outside the front of Kelly’s building. The opened window in the kitchen is facing towards the back of the apartment building. Therefore, Officer must have been a great distance and must have impeccable…

Debra McCann and two of her children (Jillian, and Jonathan) were shopping in Bangor, Maine Wal-Mart on December 11th, 1996. After about an hour and a half, the McCann’s paid for their purchases and proceeded to leave the store. On the way out two Wal-Mart employees (Jean Taylor and Karla Hughes) blocked their path to the exit and stood in front of the McCann’s’ shopping cart. Note Taylor may have actually put her hand on the cart. The employees told McCann that her child had previously stolen from the store and was not allowed in the store. Defendant’s employees told McCann they were calling the police. Defendant did not actually call the police. McCann and her two children were escorted by both Wal-Mart store employees to an area next to the exit place in the store. The plaintiff was told by the defendant to remain in the room until the police officers arrived. The defendant accused him of prior shoplifting. One of the employees was always "watching" the McCann’s and even refused to allow the younger child to go to use the restroom. The call was not made to the police but made to a store security officer to identify the earlier shoplifter. McCann tried to identify herself and clear up the confusion but was unsuccessful. The security officer, Rhonda Bickmore (Bickmore), arrived at the store and explained to the employees that the McCann’s’ son was not the child she caught shoplifting a previous day. The employees understood the mistake made to the plaintiff so they left around 11:15 pm.…

"Anything I can help you find?" inquired the chubby female clerk wearing a cheesy red uniform vest complete with "Hi! My name is Amy, How can I assist you?" BS name-tag. Right away I recognize this this to be the limited dialog that clerks are required to resort to when they feel certain shoppers are suspicious, to remind them they're being watched I suppose. I replied smiling, "No, my buddy's in the bathroom, just looking around thanks." the act starting to make me a bit queasy. "Alright then" she creaked, an undertone of distrust. From there I'm left to my own devices, or so they would like me to think. However I know otherwise as I'm using the very same tools that insurance managers and loss prevention employ - namely strategically placed fisheye thief catching mirrors - to keep an eye on the store walker who, after that terse conversation, started following me. Interacting with people who have an inkling that I'm up to no good while cradling nearly $150 worth of stolen goods in my coat, (just under the federal limit mind you) brought on strong feelings of sickness mixed with a rush of adrenaline... maybe I was getting too old for this shit. After skirting my tail, I head for the back entrance which has posted up what looked to be a normal run of the mill alarm system. However having worked this place over several times before, I knew that this was simply cosmetic and no longer functioned properly. My best guess is the store was too broke to repair it, in part due to klepto jack-asses like me and my crew. Most likely they allowed this skeleton of a system to stay standing in hopes that it would deter those that didn't know any better. In fact most of the security equipment in this place was for show. From the dozens of shaded domes mounted in the ceilings where maybe one quarter of them actually held security cameras, to the magnetic tags - or bugs as we coded…
