Title : Resistance Color Code !

!
!
Performed by : El Batina Bokhoum

Engineering course : ENG-102

Partners : Betsy Batista

Lab Day/Hour : Tuesday 6-8 pm!

Jermaine Lockley

!

Lab Instructor : Dr. Gontar !
Date Performed : 09/09/14!
Date Due: 09/16/14!

!
Purpose : The purpose of this lab is to be able to measure the resistance of color code !
.The experiment will help us to interpret and record the ohmic value of a resistor when given a color- coded resistor.!

Procedure : !

- 1. 5 resistors are given . Using color code method , read and record each value .!
- 2. configure the data acquisition unit to measure resistance . !
- 3. Measure and record the value of each resistor !
- 4. Record the tolerance of the resistors and see if they within tolerance !
- 5. Calculate the percent error by comparing the accepted and measured value !

Data and Results : !

Calculations :! color code accepted value : !
#1 : R : (5 × 10 + 6) × (100) = 5600 Ω!
#2 : R : (1 × 10 + 0) × (10³) = 10000 Ω!
#3 : R : (8 × 10 + 2) × (10) = 820 Ω!
#4 : R : (1 ×10 + 8) × (10 ⁰) = 18 Ω!
#5 : R : (5 × 10 + 6) × (10¹) = 560 Ω!
Tolerance : !
#1 : (5600 Ω × 5) / 100 = 280 Ω!
(5600 - 280) - (5600 + 280) = 5320 Ω - 5880 Ω!
#2 : (10000 Ω × 5 ) / 100 = 500 Ω!

(10000 - 500) - (10000 + 500) = 9500 Ω - 10500 Ω!
#3 : (820 Ω × 5) / 100 = 41 Ω!
(820 - 41) - (820 + 41) = 779 Ω - 861 Ω!
#4 : (18 Ω × 5) / 100 =
