Did you know that a mongoose can be murdorus, at least to cobras? They’ll do anything to protect their family. Murdorus means involving murder or extreme violence, or capable of or intending to murder, dangerously violent. This mongoose got caught up in a storm and ended up at a house in a dry area. Rikki was brought inside to a house to get dried off. He met his new family then and there. There was the big man (the father), the mother and Teddy (the son). That night he went to explore the garden and met two birds, Darzee and his wife. Then he met two cobras, Nag and Nagaina. These cobras were very rude. When one of Darzee’s children fell out of the nest, Nag and Nagaina ate it. Rikki was very impatient with all of the animals, which …show more content…
Chuchundra had some information so Rikki threatens Chuchundra to get it and says, “ Quick Chuchundra or I’ll bite you! “ (p.21). This shows that Rikki has no patience which shows that he is murderous because a mongoose bites to kill.
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi went searching around the house and did what Chuchundra told him to do. In the big man's bathroom Rikki heard Nag and Nagaina talking. Nag came out after they were done talking. After Nag came out Rikki told himself, “ Now if I kill him here Nagaina will know and if I fight him on the open floor he has the advantage… “ (p.22). This shows that Rikki is not only trying to kill Nag, but he is trying to find the easiest way to kill him. This is a show of violence and is murderous.
Nagaina was about to strike at Teddy. Then Rikki asked what price for a cobra's egg? Nagaina slithers over to him and then realized that she just moved away from Teddy. Rikki says this, “And it was I that caught Nag by the hood last night in the bathroom.” Then he began to jump up and down, all four feet together. “ He threw me to and fro but could not shake me off, he was dead before the big man blew him in two, I did it! “ (p.25). This is a very murderous quote because he was enjoying telling Nagaina that he killed her husband Nag and he had enjoyed

When fighting with Nagaina, she went down to a hole “and she plunged into the rat hole where she and Nag used to live, his little white teeth were clenched on her tail and he went down with her and very few mongooses- however wise and old they maybe, care to go into the hole.” (27) This shows how brave Rikki-tikki was since none of the mongooses will ever go down, but he did because “Rikki-tikki knew he must catch her or all the trouble will begin again.” (26) Another time he showed bravery was when Nag was in the water jug he risked his life to jump in there and hold on. “Then he jumped. The head was lying a little clear from the water jar, under the curve of it; and as his teeth, Rikki braced his back against the bulge of the red earthenware to hold down the head. This gave him one second purchase, and he made the most of it. Then he was battered to and fro as a rat shaken by a dog…..” (22) He could of just let go,but he chose not to and wait into the humans killed Nag completely. This shows how brave he was.…

The use of the word “suddenly” indicates this is not something he ever expected and is very confused by. Due to the trust and faith he has in T’Gatoi and what she had shown him, he doesn’t allow himself to see his hesitation for what it is; the preface of his doubt on the process. The tone shows his reluctance to believe that it is possible he could fear anything related to T’Gatoi. It’s obvious he is choosing to blind himself in the way he attempts to stall going into the room and then proceeds to excuse his actions even just to himself by the use of the word “wasted” when describing how he took the time to choose a knife. When we arrived at the zoo, it was so quiet anyone could hear a pin drop. As we approached the first exhibit, which seemed to be an abandoned house, there we spotted a black and brown rope. But the funny thing was, it had fast blinking eyes. As we observed longer, we realized that is was a black and brown cobra! A great amount of people would be afraid of a snake and would question their existence. As we looked at the wooden post near the exhibit, it gave us a description of this creature. We learned that the cobra’s assignment is to reduce the number of mice and other rodents in a particular area. We were surprised by this information, because a snake’s presence has always taken on a negative vibe. We would have never thought that this animal would be as helpful to the environment as it is.…
