Chapter 1 : Introduction
1.1 Background
Online education is the most in demand of all people in gaining knowledge and degree. This is the latest trend of educational delivery. Online education is a computer-based study, where it involves computer-enhanced learning information and studying materials that primarily gain from computers and internet connection. This is already widely used, where it is applicable to all levels of education. Students now can possibly earn their entire education through online with the aid of the computers.

This online education is not just for the students but also it is very beneficial for the elderly people and working adult who is working full time and managing a family because it could help them to quench their thirst from knowledge.

Online education helps students earn their degree in a very convenient way, in which they could study during their free time at their home that provides comfort to them. Through this online education, it helps the individual to enhance and improve their current career in which they can get a better wages opportunity and achieve higher placements in their fields of work. 1.2 Problem Statements
1. What are the overall perceptions of student on online learning in current academic system? 2. What are the benefits that students get through online learning? 3. What are the barriers of implying online learning in today’s academic system?

1.3 Research Aims
We had chosen to do a research on online learning in current academic system as our topic for this research. The research is carrying out with objectives to understand the perception of people about online learning. Secondly, to the benefits that student gains from online learning. Thirdly, to identifies the barriers of online learning system. Finally, suggesting ways to improve the online learning method.

1.4 Significance of Study
The need for this research is to examine the effectiveness, to understand overall perceptions, to identify the benefits and to determine the barriers of implying online learning in tertiary education institution and distance learning education.

Online learning gives students the flexibility to attend a course at any time, from anywhere. This means that students can attend their classes from anywhere rather than rushing to class, working students can attend classes no matter what their work schedule might be, folks that travel for business or pleasure can attend class from anywhere in the world that has internet access.

Online learning enables student-centered teaching approaches. Every student has their own way of learning that works best for them. Some learn visually others do better when they "learn by doing."

Course material is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Students have the ability to read and re-read lectures, discussions, explanations and comments. Often spoken material in the classroom passes students by due to a number of distractions, missed classes, tiredness or boredom.
