The abilities an individual possesses are an accumulation of their previous life experiences and the various competences which have been practiced for many years. Often times, these skills are overlooked and taken for granted as we never actually think about them in terms of their effect on our potential career choices. After thinking about my personal skills, I compiled a list which included; communication, cooperation, patience, listening, helping others and perseverance; all skills which I have possessed for majority of my lifetime and have used to overcome many challenges. The social work method I could use is that of reflective practice as I believe that coming into a new profession one will be faced with various new challenges and it is from these challenges that one gains experience and becomes a better practitioner. The process of reflection according to Knott, Christine and Scragg, Terry (2010) yields positive results by learning, gaining knowledge and understanding what it is that you need to do.
