Reflection Paper on the Article of Kim Jae-Yun
Philippines: A Rich Nation

As a citizen of the Philippines for almost nineteen years today, I’ve always dreaming of a better nation. I always want the Philippines to be in its highest glory. But as I witness it every day, it has been a long time issues in the Philippines the different problems, most of the time the poverty, of many Filipinos. It is everywhere. When you’re watching the news or reading a newspaper there’s no way that you would not learn about the poverty of this country. There’s no denial, poverty is the main problem of the Philippines. Although this is very true in the whole world not just in the Philippines, however, many countries are able to manage it.
I’ve read the heartbreaking article of a Korean named Kim Jae-Yun about the poverty in the Philippines and his reasoning why we are a poor nation. As I was reading the article of Kim Jae-Yun, I was also taking down notes of the points I agree with him as well as the points that I disagree with him, but unfortunately, based on my own observation, I found myself agreeing to most of his points. It is true that most of the Filipinos, if not all, always complain about the corruption in our government, for most of the Filipinos, believe that corruption is the sole reason of their poverty. I completely agree with him that it is not just the corruption in the Philippines that causes the poverty in our country. We are blinded by the thinking that it is merely the corrupt politicians, in the first place were elected by most of us Filipinos, which cause our misery. We always put the blame on them without thinking that we also have to blame ourselves for

Since the 1980s, the Philippines’ Anti-Poverty situation remained a major problem in the Philippines. In the year 2000, the National Anti-Poverty Action Agenda (NAAA) was launched that sought to provide direction and focus to its anti-poverty programs.
