“Where the red fern grows” is a book about a boy named Billy who wanted hound pups for hunting.which he finally got after a long period of time saving up his own money to get him some pups. But what BIlly didn't know was that having those pups would change his life forever.

In the book, Billy had three sisters, a mother, a father, a grandpa, and a grandma who love him very much. BIlly also has these two coon hounds named Old Dan, and Little Ann. they are his best friends. Old Dan is a little bit bigger and stronger than Little Ann btu that's normal because he's a male dog. In the book, while on a hunting trip Little Ann fell in some icey water and almost died. If it wasn't for Billy her owner which saved her life.Billy's grandpa enters Billy

The mother,father, and grandpa are the same but they do not mention the grandma in the movie. They enter the championship, but there no beauty contest. In the movie they only have 3 nights to hunt. While in the book they have 4 nights to hunt.

In the book Billy has 3 sisters but in the movie he only has 2 sisters. In the book when they went to the championship they had 4 nights while in the movie they only had 3 nights to hunt. They mention something about their grandma in the book but in the movie they don't mention her at all. When Billy goes to get his pups in the book he goes through a playground where he gets in a fight with some local boys.in the movie he doesn't go through the playground but he still gets in a fight with the local boys. Also, in the book when Billy gets his pups the sheriff of the town buys Billy a strawberry pop. there is so many things different in the book and the movie.

Personally, I like the book better. The movie just doesn't give enough information. It leaves out so many details from the book that it just messes up the story line. Don't get me wrong the movie was a great movie but it just wasn't good enough. It needed more details than what it had. The little details is what counts the
