Why the racism should be forbidden and how it can be reduced

Many people visits America. Someone comes for travel, someone for study English. Also, getting a job or wanting a better place to live can be purposes of being in America. Inevitably, there are many races mixed in America because many people from many different countries come to America. African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and many other races are mixed in America. This seems like a really normal thing, however, some people do not like other races instead of their own race. This is called Racist. Racist literally means that a discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion. It is not happened by one dominant race or religion group. Whatever their race is, if they discriminate someone else based on race or religion, it is racism. In other words, racism can be happened by every race. This should be considered really heavily because race is not something that we can choose, and it is not also a thing that can be discriminated because all races should be equal. That will be why the society is stopping the racism in many ways. I will write about why the racist should be forbidden, and how to make it not happened. Firstly, let’s discuss why it should be forbidden. We all agree that racist is something negative thing however, we all know that it is still happening everywhere. People whoever had been discriminated because of their race would feel really hurt. What will be the reason? Race is something we are born with. It is also a something that we are gifted from our parents. It is the root of ours. Discriminating a race will be the same as attacking everything that the person has, because racism would be opposing the one’s root and family. I was once discriminated just because that I am an Asian. It was a huge shock because I have never been discriminated with my race in Korea since most of people are Asian in Korea. I was confused, and thought like this. ‘Is it really an understandable thing being discriminated just because I am Asian? Is there something wrong with Asian people so that African American makes fun of me? Is their race better than mine?’ What do you think the answer of those? It would be a big “No”. Fundamentally, every people are born equal. Every people have human rights which we all know. However, racism is the one that breaks all of these obvious things. Racist will never know how it hurts before they are discriminated. Racism should not be understood because we have the common sense. In my opinion, I will call the racists mentally disabled, because they are not educated in a right way. Let me introduce my experience more. I used to play basketball when I was in Korea. I had a kind of dream. It was playing basketball with Americans because I am a really big fan of NBA. However, my dream was strongly broken. I went to a basketball court to play basketball when I first came to America. An African American started to laugh at me when he saw me, and he asked. “Oh, do Asians play basketball too? Do you even know how to play?” I was so angry. Yes, I am an Asian guy, and I do know how to play basketball. The guy seemed like he is so privileged to play basketball. His physical might be privileged to play basketball but not his race. I played so hard so that the guy would not say that to any of Asians any more. I did my best, and I do not play basketball with Americans anymore from that time. As I said, racism is ethically wrong. Even though someone has a different race with ours, it does not mean that they are wrong. They are just different with us. I discussed about why racism should be forbidden. Racism is the same as denying everything someone has, and it is ethically untolerable. Secondly, let us discuss how we can prevent the racism. I am not going to write about any policies or social system. What I will write is the things that we all can easily do in actions. I just wrote that races are something different. Therefore, we need to learn how to acknowledge the difference. We should not have any biased views of other races. If we do have any prejudice, it will impossible to understand others. We have to learn that we are different. People’s sense of values are established when they are young, which means that it is really difficult to change someone’s value when they are old. That’s why we should be educated when we are young. We all learned that Racism is really bad and should not be happened, however, have we ever heard that how others are different? Teaching how races are different will be essential to reduce racism. For example, when we learn how others had been immigrated to America and how they are settled. It should not be “they’ coming to “our” territory. It should be “we” becoming all together. Also, we need to get rid of the culture that some races are dominant and privileged to do something. For example, I once went to a golf club to register, but I was refused just because I was Asians. They said that the golf club is so special that only white people can register for the club. Believe it or not, these are happening all over the world. However, we need to build our values so that we won’t make the mistakes that many people of the past did. If the value spread out one by one, everyone will be aware of the value so they will be adjusted to it. To be short, we have to acknowledge the difference, and establish our own values that oppose the racism.
As America is the place that many different races come over, racism has been raising as an issue. I wrote why racism should be forbidden and how it should be forbidden. We all have different values, but there is something we have to have in common. We have to remember that every people are equal, and they have to be treated equal. If we keep remind ourselves about them and educate others in that way, I believe the day that every race lives without any racism will come. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” This is what Martin Luther King said. And I hope the nation can be United States of America. We all should not prejudge anyone with the color of the skin, and that is the society that most of us commonly want.

Racism is an ongoing force that negatively impacts the lives of Americans every day. The racist mindset in America stems from the times of slavery, where blacks were thought to be inferior to whites. Throughout history, the ideas of race and racism has evolved and developed several different meanings. Today, we can still see the devastating effects of racism on people of color, as well as whites. “Racism, like other forms of oppression, is not only a personal ideology based on racial prejudice, but a system involving cultural messages and institutional policies and practices as well as beliefs and actions of individual” (Tatum, pg. 9). As a result of this system, it leaves the oppressed at a great disadvantage in society. This includes access to social, cultural, and economic resources and decision-making. In order for change to come about and for the American society to reach racial inequality, we first have to acknowledge the problem openly, which our society has yet to do.…
