Racism in soccer between fans and players has been well documented. Racism has more notoriously taken place in European countries than any other countries with soccer arenas throughout the world. Many different abuses have taken place between the players and fans. For example in Italy (and other countries), bananas have been thrown at black soccer players during the middle of a match a frequent amount of times. Also a section of Real Madrid fans in Spain have recently been accused and cited by the referee Alfonso Perez Burull who cited in his match report for chanting, “extremist or radical symbolism,” and for chanting “the gas chamber, death to Osasuna” and loyalty to fascism. Star players do not even escape the racism as monkey chants and peanuts being thrown at Samuel Eto’o made him walk off the pitch in the middle of a game, along with similar chants motivating Inter Milan player Zora to walk off the pitch also.
