Assignment: Social Problem

There are two paper assignments due throughout the semester. These papers are designed to build upon each other such that the second paper includes a revision of the first. You have been given a list of social problems. Keep in mind, Social Problems, also called social issues affect every society, great and small. Even in relatively isolated, sparsely populated areas, a group will encounter social problems. Part of this due to the fact that many members of a society living close enough together will have conflicts. It’s virtually impossible to avoid them, and even people who live together in the same house don’t always get along seamlessly. On the whole though, when social problems are mention they tend to refer to the problems that affect people living together in a society.

The list of social problems is huge and not identical from area to area. In the U.S. some predominant social issues include the growing divide between rich and poor, domestic violence, unemployment, racism and sexism, and many others. Sometime social problems/issues arise when people hold very different opinions about how to handle certain situations like unplanned pregnancy. While some people might view abortion as the solution to this problem, other members of the society remain strongly opposed to its use. In itself, strong disagreements on how to solve proems create divides in social groups. You will research the definition and prevalence of the problem. In the second paper, you will build up the first paper by reviewing research on the causes of this social problem. Detailed descripti0ns of each o these papers are provided below.

People faces problems in everyday life, but problems that people living in the same society face commonly are called social problems. Before discussing social problems in our society, we must first give criteria of how we define social problems. Firstly, the objective condition must be perceived to be a social problem publicly. That is, there must be some public outcry. People must become actively involved in discussing the problem and finding solution to solve the problem. Social issues are matters which directly or indirectly affect many or all members of a community and are considered to be problems, controversies related to moral values, or both. I live in a peaceful neighbourhood on the northern highway and my backyard is Belama Phase 4; we do not come across any major social issues, but I believe that we do have some troubles. I assume that the burning of garbage is an issue we face. There are many times we would see and smell the burning from different vicinities, and the smoke is such a nuisance. The smoke pollutes the air and it has an effect on global warming.…
