Assessing the available resources of the school is a vital process in the implementation of blended learning. Table 1 presents the available computer and internet resources of DMMMSU-SLUC, Laboratory High School.
Based on the data provided by the school principal, there are available computer units for students use in the computer laboratory (see Appendix R). As per other resources for multimedia presentations, there are available projectors and installed LED TVs in most of the classrooms. Office equipment like laptops, printers, scanners, and digital camera are also available for use. Moreover, the Laboratory High School currently do not have internet subscription or access yet.

Data on computer ownership is an important measure of Internet use because computers have long been the only device needed to access the Internet. From 1998 to 2010, households with Internet connection in NCR have ranged from 7% to 18%. In provincial areas, though, Internet penetration remains well below 10%. Internet penetration in urban households has gradually increased from 3% in 1998 to 10% in 2010, but in the rural areas, Internet access was zero until in 2006 (Labucay …show more content…
As natives of the Generation Z learners, this implies that the students under survey are skillful in terms of the given items for basic computer skill operations.
In blended learning, the basic skills of the students in using the internet must also be identified in order to assess these existing skills for the smooth flow of the program and minimize this barrier in its implementation.
Table 5 shows that the students are Highly Skilled (HS) in terms of internet operation skills as marked with a Grand Mean of 4.65. The skills on searching for information in the web, saving images and text from sources and signing out in a website obtained the highest mean of 4.90. On the other hand, composing and sending emails and sending other file types through email were the skills that garnered a mean of 4.03 and 4.13, respectively, and described as Moderately Skilled (MS).
This results revealed that the students in the Grade 8 are highly skilled in using the internet. Therefore, this is not a hindrance or barrier in the implementation of blended learning as Childs et al. (2005) included lack of skills and computer anxiety as one of the main
