Professor Fierro Reflection
Being in ENG113 with Professor Fierro, has been rewarding because she makes her class challenging so that her students can strive for success for their potential career. The Christian ethics that she provides towards this class is before each lecture which she has a bible verse that will relate to the lecture for that given day. The verse is helpful and always gives me encouragement and reminds me to always strive for success because God will always be by our side. The feedback she gives is rather helpful and encouraging, so that I could improve in future assignments. So far with my assignments I’ve received great grades on them because of taking part of tutoring where I can go in and they’ll go over my essay with me to see if I need to …show more content…
The in-class discussions are very helpful within this class because we can come together as a class and talk about a certain topic that will involve everyone’s opinion and wont neglect others opinions. Along with power points these help us with our assignment that she announces because it’s informative and if we have any questions we can always relate it back to the power points. The peer response is something that I like doing because we communicate with other students in the class and go over our essays and see if their needs to be changes towards our papers before we turn them in. My partner and I reflect upon both of our essays and then have a brief discussion to what could be different within the essay. We do this because we want us both to be able to succeed in this class. Therefore, I think Professor Fierro is a great professor and provides a well Christian structured atmosphere inside and outside of class. For future recommendation, I recommend people take part and consider in taking her class because she is very helpful and wants her students to succeed within their own education. I hope that with this feedback and reflection upon Professor Fierro you consider that she is doing a great job with teaching her

Conscious of their own defects, they endeavor to improve themselves, but the absence of a guide, their need of books, and their scanty time, all prevent their making progress. These are the men whom the Pastor’s College welcomes… The College aims at training preachers rather than scholars. To develop all the faculty of ready speech, to help them understand the word of God, and to foster the spirit of consecration, courage, and confidence in God, are objects so important that we put all other matters in secondary position. If a student should learn a thousand things, and yet fail to preach the gospel acceptably, his College course will have missed its true design (Spurgeon 2011, Location 63 of…

The books that we were required to read for Bible 115 class were Engaging God’s World – A Christian Vision Of Faith, Learning And Living by Cornelius Plantinga Jr. and The Call – Finding And Fulfilling The Central Purpose For Your Life by Os Guinness. Both books offered very useful advice for today’s Christians. Engaging God’s World is written for students and will help them make sense of their education in a Christian perspective. Feedback during a conversation about the essay can be exploratory, seeking to understand the background thinking of the learner, especially if there is evidence of inconsistent or unexpected outcomes. Verbal feedback is a fantastic tool and expectations and aspirations can be aired by both parties. Body language and tone of voice have huge implications in the addressing and giving of constructive feedback. Care must be taken and each individual situation will be different.…

The purpose and benefits of encouraging and accepting feedback from others is important to improve oneself in your work. Take notice of feedback in all its forms – put all feedback in a curiosity frame: ask yourself how you can use it to avoid failures, or to repeat successes. Feedback can be both formal and informal in nature. E.g. formal feedback can be in a meeting and informal feedback can be between colleges asking how you were or how you did the last assignment.…

Throughout this semester I have received a lot of input and criticism on my essays from my TA, my professor and fellow students. This semester I was fortunate to receive quick, fairly reliable, built in feedback. From the feedback that I have received by taking this class I believe that I have become a better writer as it was beneficial for the most part. Feedback that I received from my fellow students was occasionally helpful. It typically varied from week to week. One week I would write a paper and get a ton of markings and criticism on it which was helpful because I was able to see what I did wrong and I would rarely have to get it proof read another time. Other times I would turn in a paper and it would come back with few markings and comments. This felt almost like a waste of time because I knew that I had more mistakes that I did not catch earlier. Because of this I would have to go out of my way and someone else would have to go out of their way to get it proof read again, or I would risk handing in the good copy with mistakes. One thing that I appreciated from peer evaluation days was that was able to see what worked in my paper, what did not and what I need to improve on.…

Through the course of five weeks I have tutored a third grader by the name of Willy one hour each Thursday. Willy is a high-spirited kid who loves to learn. He goes to a school named Corpus Christi, a school I spent my sixth through eighth grade years at, and is also the organization I volunteered for. I chose this particular work because I love working with kids considering I have 4 younger brothers and sisters. This also gave me an opportunity to put my knowledge to good use and to be a good role-model towards Willy. What I gained from this experience is satisfaction from helping a young student cope with his academic struggles and learn to surpass them in order to be successful. I most definitely would do this project again if I had the chance.…

Moving on, what’s the importance of actively participating in class discussions? Well the most important reason is that the teacher will consider your participation as a positive sign you are listening, willing to cooperate and most importantly willing to learn. And it also means that you are alert and thinking about what's being taught. In addition you may have valuable opinions and ideas which your classmates or teacher may need or want to hear. If you don't speak up and share, how will they know? Also you learn more by challenging and discussing the idea or topic presented. And lastly some classes may give a participation credit. So the more you participate in class discussions the better…

My junior English teacher, Mrs. Doherty, was different compared to other teachers that I had. She was more interested in the process of learning rather than the final result. She would have us go step by step with our drafts, working on them in class for each paragraph. We had peer teaching exercises that allowed everyone to get involved and learn about their essay while aiding each other with their papers. Mrs. Doherty’s class helped me to learn how to accomplice problems at my own pace.…
