CS204-15: Professional Presence
Unit 2 Assignment

Part 1: Watch and Analysis
The closest slide based on my profession and career goal was slide #2: The Informational Technology Professional. The slide shows a woman at a computer dressed business casual. From the picture she seemed to be professional. She was at her desk. She looked very alert and helpful. The description said she should be knowledgeable, have good communication skills, and be able be able to complete tasks in a timely manner
What made the individual professional was her overall presentation of self. She was neat. She looked focused on the task at hand. She was smiling which said to me, that she would give good customer service. She didn’t have on any revealing clothing. She didn’t have any revealing tattoos or body piercings
There were no aspects, that I saw, that were unprofessional. She was neat and clean and seemed pleasant. She looked confident and knowledgeable.

Part 2: Self Analysis
The Appropriate attire for an individual in the beauty industry is dress casual. For most Cosmetologists, Makeup Artists and Nail Technicians the uniform is black. Estheticians wear all black with a white jacket. Most professional high end salons and spas wear this.
Beauty professionals have a professional code of conduct that we must follow. All beauty schools teach this standard code. These are some of the skills and attributes that I practice every day as a spa professional
You must be actively seeking to update knowledge and improve your professional skills in order to maintain a quality standard of service, reflecting on my own practice, identifying development needs and undertaking relevant development activities. You must stay up date with latest trends.
You have to be willing to accept responsibility and be accountable for professional decisions or actions, welcome evaluation of your work and recognize the need when it is appropriate to refer to another professional specialist.

As a healthcare professional, a main goal in patient care is to inspire confidence in the patient in a professional manner. Since conveying professionalism in any workplace encompasses the way people communicate, one of the first ways healthcare professionals can inspire confidence in patients is by the way they look. Healthcare professionals can appear professional by removing any body jewelry located on body parts other than the ears and by covering any tattoos that may be visible to both patients and coworkers. Also, since patients may be sensitive or allergic to certain fragrances, healthcare professionals should refrain from using perfume, cologne, or any other substance that may emit a scent.…

The general definition of professionalism given by Webster is this, ' the skill, good judgement, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well.' I think you not only have to possess these qualities, but you have to want to do them if you plan to be a physical therapist and do it to the best of your ability. Like APTA's definition of professionalism for a physical therapist, there are core values that they consistently strive for and make an effort to embody. Some of these values are respect, communication, ethics, caring, and the ability to work with others. Therefore, as a doctor of physical therapy student, it is my goal to continually work towards those core values since my goal at the end of graduate…

To acquire professional behavior one must maintain a professional demeanor. We will experience times of disagreement and anger in the workplace. It’s crucial that we remain calm and handle tough situations in appropriate manners. Though it is important to act professional, one must also dress professionally to the general accepted norms. Recognizing that we don’t know everything and need assistance on certain conditions, I believe, is a great professional quality. As a professional you must know your limits and areas where you are not comfortable in. When noticing this, we can broaden ourselves and become more knowledgeable each day. Listening to supervisors and taking feedback to help your understanding of your field is another important trait to have when being professional. You are on the right track if you keep working toward growing in your knowledge and gain maturity in professionalism. A final quality that all great professional have is respect and appreciation. As a professional, showing sensitivity and attempting to build relationships with patients demonstrates that you appreciate what you are doing and strive to continue your work in a respectful manner towards others. With that being said, I consider unprofessional behavior to lack in the qualities I mentioned previously. If you have a poor demeanor, don’t recognize your limits, are not respectful and don’t listen to feedback,…
