Going back to school is a great step to furthering your education and improving your work skills and to help better yourself for the future. There are many online schools to choose from that offer different programs. It is a lengthy process to choosing which school is right for you and there are several steps to take to register for the school of your choice.

The first step is to research all of the schools of your interests. Look to see if they are accredited and if any credits that you have prior to registering would transfer to the school of your choice. You do not want to choose a school that does not accept credits earned from other universities or job trainings.

Once you have decided on the school that you want to attend, you will want to apply for any financial aid that may be available to you, such as grants, loans or scholarships. This is called FAFSA and it means “free application for financial student aid”. On most college sites there is a link for you to click on to register, if not you can type in FAFSA in the search engine of the internet and it will provide different links for you to choose from. When applying for financial aid, you will need your name, date of birth, social security number, the school name and code and copy of your year-end tax return. Applying for financial aid before registering for a school can speed up the process of acceptance into that school. It is a long process, but it is well worth it in the end.
