The freedom of different groups have changed tremendously for the better. The 14th and 15th amendments in 1868, 1870 helped the African Americans gain their freedom by banning slavery and being allowed to vote. But society was not ready for the African Americans to vote or have the same rights as the rest of the United States. They were persecuted until the Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965. Almost a hundred year later, now all African Americans have full rights and responsibilities to the constitution. Women's rights have also changed by now having the freedom to vote. Transportation is a part of technology and has hugely helped society, by saving time when traveling. Traveling in cars, trains, and buses are used by the public daily. Now a 30 mile drive takes only 30 minutes compared to a horse and buggy taking 30 minutes to go 2 miles. Communication has increased as well. Cell phones, TV's, and radios improve communication and are used by the public daily. These forms of communication allow us to talk with people on the other side of the world and not have to wait for the mail to arrive. The communication also helps us stay safe by alerting us of coming storms or threats. These forms of communication are also used by our political, and military leaders to respond to different situations.
