Popfish: Personal Narrative
Nate thompson
Narrative 2

FLASHDRAFT Plunk that is the sound of a fish biting the hook.and I could tell that my poppop was proud because earlier he said he would let me catch the first fish.

“Nate its under my Popop told me he said to set the hook” “I said ok and I got up and set the hook it's on I said”. I new it was going to be a good day for fishing I thought.
I thought it was a pike because it was not coming in.It was as strong as a gorilla. but I was not letting the fish get away. Because I knew how prod my Poppop was of me for not giving up. and i new from my past experience that fish are really good at getting off of the hook . it was inching in and then it jumped I saw its lagoon green scales flash through the air it was so amazing.

I almost fell right out of the canoe I was so startled. I casted my line right where I heard the splash and not ten seconds after, I saw a fish jump right out of the water and take my fly. It tug so hard the whole way i was reeling it in and i thought it was going to break but luckily I was able to get the fish to the boat. It was the biggest fish i’ve ever caught and even seen in real life. My dad tried to take a picture of my catch, before he could get the camera out, the fish slipped out of my hand and plopped into the water. That whole night was filled with fishing. I caught at least a dozen more, while my dad only caught three. On our way back to the cabin I told my dad,”That was seriously funny that i caught more fish than you and you’ve been here many more times than I have.”…

The ocean is a beautiful sanctuary not only for the animals that coexist within it, but also for people that spend more time in the water than on land. There are instances where the sea can represent a wide array of emotions such as respect, fear, and adventure. To me the ocean water is nothing less than a second home on the grounds that it reminds me so much of my home with emotions such as compatibility, fighting and peace coursing through the currents.…

‘The bottom was as flat as a tack, and I knew that there ain’t no snappers there, never are in the flat areas, usually around em holes and edges. Then the needle jagged forward and just what I needed, a reef. “You boys get ready.” I said to em, went to grab my line and came back. “Now!” I yelled. Boys and I dropped our sinkers and waited. For such a good spot, not much was happening. “Nothing, ey?” I asked the boys. “Nothing for me, dad” Tim said. “Bring ya rods back up, I’m gonna move the big girl.” I moved it on a bit, surely some bloody snapper gotta be here. As a kindergartener, when I grew up I wanted to be a princess, or own a hamster farm, or never really grow up at all. In second grade I developed an obsession with the ocean and what lives in it, specifically sharks. Because of my love of sharks I decided that when I grew up I wanted to be a marine biologist. When I made this decision I never knew what a big part math played in this profession. Math has always been my biggest weakness when it came to my education. I would spend hours trying to understand all the numbers and what to do with them. I know now regardless of my love of the ocean, I would have ended up being miserable having to spend the rest of my life constantly feeling confused and idiotic.…

As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…

Yet another Thanksgiving, and I was stuck in my uncle’s basement watching the Redskins face off the Dallas Cowboys. Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and various other famous athletes all grinned at me from their respective Wheaties boxes, seemingly mocking my pain. My uncle collected them and, for some reason, had decided the bright orange boxes would be a great decorative addition to the basement wall behind the television. I remember once, when I was younger, I was searching for a movie to watch and I accidentally brushed against a limited edition Michael Jordan box. The box began to teeter, and I immediately knew that I was doomed. All the boxes began to fall like dominos to the floor. My uncle, needless to say, was furious. Thus, it was seemingly fitting that the offended boxes, now realigned on the wall, would have the privilege to witness my torture by football.…
