Twelve years ago I awakend to a beautiful warm September morning. I prepared my coffee lay down on the sofa and planned to catch up on the latest news. The images which appeared on the television screen became indelibly impressed on my memory. The Twin Towers were in flames. People were frantically fleeing from the inferno as Policemen and Firefighters rushed into the buildings to save lives. As the magnitude of the devastation emerged in the week and months that followed, my thoughts turned to be own future. My journey began with an investigation of careers which would enable me to be part of community of professional who preserve lives. I considered the health professions such a home health aide and emergency technician. Next I pondered over a career in law enforcement and even passed an exam for a traffic agent. Neather choice seemed to satisfy my need to be intellectually challenged. I turned my attention to an education, which led me to enroll in the Homeland Security and Security Management program at Long Island Business Institute in Flushing, NY. After I finish the school my plan is to become a Police Officer with a specialty in counter terrorism. My path is already in progress. As soon as I am granted Associate’s Degree, I will enroll at John Jay College in the Bachelor’s Degree Program within in Homeland Security Department in the school. I will also take the examination for Police Officer. Ultimately I will pursue a Master’s Degree

He told me that he and my mom were traveling in a suburban train to attend Mother Mary’s novena at the famous Mahim church in Bombay (Present Mumbai) on that day. He had a habit of reading a local daily called “Mid-Day” while traveling in local trains to get rid of the noisy and boring commute. That day, on 9-11-2001 too he bought this daily. He was terrified by seeing the pictures and breaking news about the suicide terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York. This attack has brought down the landmark twin world trade centers and almost 3000 innocent people have lost their life in the tragic event. He remembered that two planes were used…

The building instantly lit on fire and the whole city went into a panic. Most thought it was a freak accident, but some say they knew from the beginning. It seemed so tragic that nobody could imagine a person who would do something so horrible intentionally. Although many years have gone by since the devastating events of 9/11, its memory and the feelings it evokes remains immortal. In retrospect, I was five years old during the time of the attacks and I wasn't even living in the United States. Nevertheless, as I was too young to fully understand the magnitude of the attacks, seeing how an event that took place thousands of miles away from me had the ability to bring shock and terror to the people around me, I knew that something terrible had happened. Consequently, I saw some of the consequences of the attacks affecting the world around me. Primarily, I started seeing the the growth of an enormous…

We surely all have some knowledge of what happened on September 11, 2001, but do any of us recall any memories of the day? I had just turned 2 a week before the terrorist attacks on the twin towers. Yet, I vividly remember some of the details of what happened that day. Around 7:30 in the morning, I had been dropped off at daycare, as my mom worked at the grade school and my dad worked construction. My babysitter had liked to watch the news while we ate breakfast. All too quickly, it became evident, even for a two year old, that something bad was happening. A big shiny plane that looked all too innocent through young eyes, hit one of the tallest buildings in the country. Unable to comprehend what was fully taking place, my eyes could only focus of the colors; the red and orange flames, the black smoke and the debris falling. The babysitter’s house was left in an eerie silence.…

I don't know the destined occupation in that career field that I want to do. I would be okay with any job in that career field though. I have much respect for police officers and fire fighters.
