In Godzilla’s Footprint, author Steve Ryfle begins by stating that the film Godzilla was not released to the Unites States until 2004, fifty years after the original release in Japan. Ryfle goes on to quote critics that were flabbergasted by the contrast of two films - the original Japanese film with its primitive special effects and recollection of the horrific aftermath of the atomic bombings, versus the re-cut, copy and pasted version showed to the United states as a monster-mash entertainment film.…

While many criticize Pokemon Go, claiming that it does not increase the attention to nature and historical/important locations, based on my own experiences, I can say the opposite. While at a summer camp, before Pokemon Go was launched, my daily routine was very limited and predictable, only travelling between my classes, the gym, the library and the dining hall. However, after Pokemon Go was released, I began to walk around more - often even walking miles to go to a nearby town and explore. This not only increased my physical activity, one of its objectives, but also created a reason for me to walk longer distances. In addition, while walking to these nearby towns, I wasn't merely staring at my phone like most people would think, but instead left it by my side, looking around at my surroundings and the different environments. Furthermore, the pokestops also sometimes contained a short description of the location or "object", allowing me to learn more about it. I even walked to a few parks throughout my summer camp. Moreover, Pokemon Go also created a sense of community at my summer camp. Whereas before, very small groups of people would occasionally walk to a nearby town, now much…

This causes a large influx of customers into the market for cell phones. As technology continues to advance new types of cell phones are developed and marketed to different segments of the population. Now cell phones are available for business purposes and social purposes such as social networking, text messaging, or gaming, and the leader in cell phone sales is Apple Inc.…

The advent of mobile commerce (m-commerce) has begun to create significant changes in the way consumers make purchasing decisions. The introduction of online shopping first began to draw customers away from brick-and-mortar retailers, changing the location of where they made their purchases. The use of mobile devices has expanded the location of purchase decisions even further, so now consumers can make purchases from almost anywhere, so long as they have a mobile device with them. It also has leveled the playing field for consumers in many cases, as it allows them to comparison shop on prices of products that they might find in stores.…

With increased adoption of smart phone technology, QR codes have become a common sight in recent years. QR codes now appear in television commercials, print ads, and in stores. In store locations vary from front windows, to dressing rooms, to product displays. These codes extend the shopping experience beyond the brick-and-mortar of a store (Carver and Matus, 2012). Stores offer an enhanced experience using the QR codes by linking to the store’s “app” that can be downloaded for an easier shopping experience for mobile users, incentives and sweepstakes opportunities, additional product information, or user instructions. “QR codes are a way to demonstrate being on trend and an edgy way for the consumer to connect with the store, while receiving some benefits” (Carver and Matus, 2012). The retailer also receives benefit from the consumer’s use of the QR code. Information regarding the consumer can easily be captured to better determine the retailer’s demographics and product preferences. Additionally, linking the QR code to social media can provide additional advertising opportunities to the retailer at a minimum cost.…

In the essay “Communication: Its Blocking and Its Facilitation”, Carl R. Rogers, a famous psychotherapist, explains the importance of fully understanding people and looking at things in their perspective. He points out that the interrupt in communication arises mainly from our instinct to judge or to evaluate our opponents’ opinion, as well as from our emotional response. The way to overcome the barriers is to listen with understanding, which means “to see the expressed idea and attitude from the other person’s point of view, to sense how it feels to him, to achieve his frame of reference in regard to the thing he is talking about” (Carl R Rogers, p396). Sounds simple but not easy to do, this approach is the key leading to successful communication.…
