Plot Summary Of Graceling: The Seven Kingdoms
Graceling takes place on a large land mass, dubbed "The Seven Kingdoms". It is split into 7 different sections each controlled by a king and/or queen. The kingdoms are (in order from tops to bottom) Nander, Wester, Middluns, Estill, Sunder, Monsea, and Lienid. Kasta, the main character, comes from Middluns, a kingdom ruled by one named Randa. Po, a character Katsa later meets, derives from Lienid.
Katsa is a Graceling, one of the rare people in her lad born with an extreme skill in a certain "category". These graces could be anything from land/sea navigation, advanced hearing, persuasive speaking, and even mind-reading and killing. It is very easy to tell someone is graced because of their specially colored eyes, one a different color than

They travel to Leck city, where they find Leck himself chasing his wife and single child down a field as the mother and child attempt and escape. Leck kills his wife, while Bitterblue, (the child) flees. Katsa and Po decide this irrefutable evidence that Leck was involved in the kidnapping because of his evil nature. Leck is Graced with being able to persuade other into doing his will, only with his voice. After Kasta and Po rescue Bitterblue, they make it their mission to protect her until they can get to a safe kingdom. Po decides to go back and kill Leck, because his grace cannot affect someone who can see through deception. Po attempts and fails at killing Leck only grazing him and Po taking an arrow of his own in the shoulder. After days of trying to escape Leck's army, Po decides his injured self to be left behind in order to the child to safety. Katsa eventually brings Bitterblue across kingdoms and into safe hands. The book leaves off there, and the rest of the story is continued in book 2.
Graceling is a decent book, with a fun look at fantasy, but is very heavy on romance. I myself, am not one to look for these kind of books (I didn’t actually know this would be filled with romance). Nevertheless, there are several action scenes that play out nicely with excellent detail in the fights. The book is very boring at several points with useless dialogue splattered in between. I only

And as in most books, the main character develops throughout the book, learning from his or hers mistakes and whatever else they might have come across. "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" is a saying that many live by, or turn to in bad times. What it means is basically that it is impossible to know which roads to take in life. You might experience a rough time once in a while, but life is about learning, and this is what you learn from. Secondly you will learn that if you choose one that is a blind alley you should probably consider an alternative the next time you have to a similar decision.…

I loved this book! It was very interesting to me. It was definitely a book that I couldn't put down. A weak point in this book was when Hannelore couldn't find…

Passage 1: In this first passage the author describes the scenic views of the rolling countryside as he and Willie Stark drive to Mason City for some quick press photos at Willies old house. The author spends a great deal of time in this passage detailing the landscape and introducing figures. The entire passage reminds me of the time in which I was driving out to Arizona this summer with my family. Our drive as was the one in the book was highly defined by the apparition of rolling country hills, thick forestry, and a surreal sort of feeling that hung over the car's atmosphere. As in the book were the main character Jack Burden pondered…

    Summary: A Game Of Thrones

Henry David Thoreau, a philosopher from the nineteenth century, wrote about the contradictory relationship between citizens who behave morally and governments who rule immorally. In his speech, Civil Disobedience, he stated, “Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison” to convey that governments, rather than individuals, decide whether behavior is lawful or punishable (para. 22). This statement expresses that people should evaluate someone’s imprisonment in the context of their government’s rules without making the assumption that all prisoners are convicted based on universal and justified standards. In George RR Martin’s novel, A Game of Thrones, familial line, rather than a democratic…

“He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided.” As morning comes Rainsford is awaken by the shouting of a man, a more familiar voice says Rainsford quietly to himself. Beyond his belief he stumbles to the window of the chateau to see Whitney yelling for help from the wrecked boat. Rainsford says he’s back to find his friend who he had lost only but four days ago. Rainsford stumbles down the steps and greets his friend just as Zaroff had met him at the door. Rainsford brings Whitney in and Rainsford explains everything that had happened to him the past few days. That Zaroff man seems like a monster, Whitney said. Rainsford then takes Whitney around the island showing him the numerous spots were he had been hiding from Zaroff. He also showed Whitney the 10 slaves in the basement; this is just making Whitney even more and more disgusted about this Zaroff man. The two men then come back to the eerie chateau for a somewhat royal lunch. Rainsford thinks to himself that is seems as if Whitney is the same position he was in just a few days ago. He also realizes that he himself is now Zaroff. Rainsford remains nearly speechless for the rest of the lunch.…
