The realm of physical therapy is enormous and covers the whole body and its functioning. Within this chamber, all of those philosophies have movement as the core of approach. We tend to think the message of movement system would unite and bring the profession of physical therapy closer together. However, the fields of physical therapy are still very young, and other healthcare professionals such as chiropractic and personal training might not share the concept within the movement system, thus causing conflict of interest when it comes to treating a patient. Just as APTA provided a statement in 2013, where physical therapy professionals focus on “transforming society through optimizing movement”. I will be meeting people that would bring diverse philosophies and ideas together within the DPT program, so it is students' responsibility to keep professionalism by having an open mind for a more organized and unified system of practice that represents the field of physical therapy. From teaching a bilingual school with students with disabilities at New York City to educating students studying abroad over the summer at Hofstra University, I learned how to become a teacher that adopts practice based on my students' response.
