Ones health is not constant throughout the aging process and it will never be. If it were constant, then we would not have behavioral change theories to work with. Health is dynamic and always changing either for the better or worse depending on the type of behavioral change. Health is generally defined as the state of disease abstinence, yet it is far more complicated. When individuals are physically fit usually they are viewed as healthy people, but they could be emotionally troubled so technically they are not completely healthy people. Being healthy means maintaining a healthy balance between all different health aspects they physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, and environmental. The personal and social responsibility are two faces of the same coin. They work together to form one outcome better individuals for a better society. Yet we do not see many health education or promotion programs designed to target a community rather than an individual. In most health education programs, they are often focused on alternating the personal behavioral for a better quality of life and longevity.
The article states that people who come up with their own personal diet program tend to maintain it better and have higher chances of success than others. In my own philosophy of health I mentioned that not all environmental factors can be controlled and the article supports that point. In the article, it says that when it comes to the environment no change can be made due to political involvement and complications surrounding this topic.
