The program will take place once every other month in each working sector during some workers’ one hour lunch break, while other government workers (e.g. teachers) will stay after work for a maximum of one and a half hours to participate in the education and demonstration session. Each session will consist of a lesson which will change month-to-month, for example: vegetables for January then meat and meat substitutes for March, or protein for May then fats for July. In order to meet all the requirements and demand of the program, a team of experts will host each meeting. This team will consist of either one registered dietitian or nutrition consultant and a group of nutrition student volunteers enrolled at a local college (university or community). As the registered dietitian or nutrition consultant teaches the lesson to the employees, the students will demonstrate how to put the lesson into actual practice by cooking short, easy meals. Although the many countries faced with hunger and starvation fall under the inferred notion of having no food as the cause of their deprivation, this is not the case. In fact, they do have foods, but it is the lack of other various types of food that they lack which all in all leads to poor nutrition and therefore cannot provide the proper substances for these peoples to live a healthy life. In sub-Saharan Africa, there is a very high deficit in the advancement goals including:…

Therefore, I came up with the idea to form a placemat that will help educate Jersey City children on healthy eating. The month of April has an “Every Kid Healthy Week” from April 25 through 29, this is why I decided to make my main focus for my placemat healthy eating. However, “Every Kid Healthy Week” is an appreciation week that honor schools great efforts for improving the health and wellness of students across the country.
