Philadelphia Eagles Football: Case Study
Between 2013-2015, the Chip Kelly era of Philadelphia Eagles football was known for two things: uptempo offense and poor roster management. While the uptempo offense was fun in Kelly's first year as Eagles head coach. It was only successful thanks to Andy Reid's players (Nick Foles, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy).

In the offseason prior to the 2015 season, Kelly was given the controls to make player personnel decisions. That caused a major shakeup in the Eagles' organization as Howie Roseman was given the title of Executive Vice President of Football Operations, ultimately relinquishing his role as the team's general manager.

The reason why the Eagles gave up so much is because they wanted to get their franchise quarterback in North Dakota State's Carson Wentz. The Eagles would get Wentz, even though they had re-signed Sam Bradford to a two-year, $36 million contract and signed Chase Daniel in free agency to a three-year, $21 million deal.

Nevertheless, the Eagles acquiring Wentz was a part of a bigger plan for the franchise's future plans. On Saturday, Roseman shocked the entire league once again, trading Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2017 first round pick and a conditional fourth round pick in 2018. However, the conditional fourth round pick in 2018 could become a second round pick if the Vikings win the Super Bowl.
