The values that I hold most deeply are friendships, family, and happiness. Values are things that are important in the way I live and work and I believe all of these things play a major role in my life. Since I was a little kid, my values have changed tremendously. Back then, my values would've been playtime, mac & cheese, and chicken nuggets. I believe values mature as you grow and mine definatly did. For example, when I was younger I remember being friends with everyone, but now I only have a select number of friends. This represents values to me. My values inform my actions by them always being my first thought while making a decision. They always play a role in my…

January 8, 1728, a baby boy named Ashley Bowen was born. He began a career in seafaring by age eleven, which lasted most of his life. He was born and grew up in a town called Marblehead, which is located in Massachusetts. I moved from Detroit, MI to Ypsilanti, MI, for a better living. It was December 29, 2008. I had just given birth to my daughter. My daughter was born at 9:45p.m, weighing 5lbs and 3ounces. I named my daughter Saphira Parthenia Franks. Saphira died at 36 weeks, due to still born. The doctor told me” Sometimes this happens without a reason and you will be able to have more children”. I already had my mind made up, that I would wait until I turn thirty to have another baby. I was heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I was already going insane from the deaths of my father in November 2006 and my grandma in July 2008. Therefore, I was not able to cope with their three deaths at once.…

Krakauer wrote, "no one was affected more powerfully by his or her brief contact with the boy than Ronald Franz"(Krakauer 48). My life and values have been influenced by relationships with others just like Ronald Franz was greatly impacted by Chris McCandless. Many of the relationships that I have been involved with have changed what I value in a relationship and ultimately what I value in my life. Different relationships have opened me up to several different perspectives and different lights, which I am so grateful for. It is inevitable that out of all the relationships that I have made there are negative and positive aspects of each relationship, which I learned from and each of these relationships are blessings. Every relationship is crucial…

"From an early age, I always had role models in my life who drilled into me the importance of a strong work ethic and to always focus on what I do best. I grew up watching with admiration as my late father, Robert Schnatter, and my late grandfather, ‘Papaw' Ackerson, handled their business and respective legal careers with fierce determination. No matter how much they sometimes struggled, they never gave up, and that taught me a lot about business and life.…

Though I was raised in southern California, I chose to raise my family in a small city in a rural eastern state. Unlike many people in my adopted home state, I chose to live here, and that has made me appreciate the fulfillment that my city and State provide. I’m often asked why I made that choice, and the answer I give is simple: I wanted fulfillment. Places like California will be just fine. But places like West Virginia need smart people willing to make a difference. After finishing law school and my judicial clerkships, I could have worked anywhere. But I wanted more than a big paycheck. I realized that West Virginia is a place where I can make a difference just by choosing to raise my family here. And, selfishly, I derive enormous professional satisfaction seeing my efforts improve the way people…

“Personal values include the life principles that are most important to people and shape their thoughts, feelings, and ultimately, actions” (Yoost & Crawford, 2016). Each person has their own values, which is why each person is unique and handles each situation in life differently. As I am a beginning nursing student, I have found the value I cherish most is God’s will, which is to seek and obey the will of God. As a Christian, I use the Bible to guide me through life and prayer as a communication tool to speak with Him. I strive to be an example of a good person in the world and use His words as the motivation to live my life the way I believe will get me to Heaven. Family, health, stability, and achievement are also personal values I cherish.…
