Objective: Persuasive Essay
Riding bikes and rollerblading are great exercises, but they can be extremely dangerous. Wearing a helmet can help you in so many ways. It can prevent brain damage if you fall, and protect you from getting hurt. Many people will vote against not wearing helmets because they are ugly or uncomfortable. But wearing this piece of equipment can benefit you for life. Riding a bike is the same as driving a car. Do you know somebody who was injured in a car accident? How do you think they felt when they realized that the seatbelt saved their life? If you know that a seal belt can save your life you would wear it. This goes for the same thing with wearing a helmet. People are dying and becoming seriously injured in minor bicycle accidents when the riders head hits the concrete. This little bang to the head can cause major damage to the brain.
For example, a little kid was riding his bike to school and accidentally ran over a branch and hit his head on the concrete. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and he now has brain trauma/damage for the rest of his life. Your brain is one of the most important parts in your body and if it is damaged you are done. Wearing a helmet covers your skull and protects a wall against it so if you hit your head to the floor it hits the helmet first. A helmet can save your life. Studies have shown that wearing a helmet can reduce your chances of head injury by 85%. You need to find a helmet that fits comfortably and is the correct size for you. By you wearing a helmet will set an example for other people to want to wear one also. Kids today are afraid of being made fun of, so they would rather look cool, than stay protected. If wearing a helmet were a law, we wouldn’t have this issue as drastic as it is. If everyone wore one we would all be protected. This doesn’t just include bicycle riders and rollerbladers. This includes motor cyclers and construction
