Persuasive Essay On Extra Points
I am writing to you in hopes that I might persuade you to provide me with10 extra points towards my semester grade. I strongly believe that I deserve the 10 extra points due to the amount of effort I have been putting into my work. With the end of the semester coming near, the 10 extra points would be very useful. Therefore, i feel as though I deserve the extra points for my final grade of the semester.

I realize that I have not been the most productive student this semester, but I have been doing the best I can on my work. What would happen if the whole class did worse on the essays? What would happen if they all did worse on tests? They would all be asking for extra credit, they would all be asking for the extra points to pass this class. The class would ask

But I have been doing my work this 9 weeks after realizing that I cannot mess up this school year like I did previously. The only problem I am having with this class is all the essays that we have written recently. No matter what I do, I can never write a good essay, and it’s because of the essays that I have a poor grade in this class currently. nevertheless, I do get good grades, but they don’t seem to help with bringing my grade up. It just seems as if they just bring my grade down even more.

I do believe that I can do good in this class with the proper help. I do not believe that I will ever be able to write a good essay. I think that everybody should get a chance at passing this class. I believe that the majority of this class should get the 10 extra points. I do believe that we all can pass this class with at least a 75 for the semester. I do believe that this class will not have to worry about retaking any classes in summer school, especially this class. I think that I will have a great chance of passing this semester if I get the 10 extra points for my semester

The portfolio presented before you is an overall example of why I should be allowed to be in the English 110 class. I know I have never been a student who has the skills to say that I can always pass an English class. Although, I feel this portfolio revisions of my first five essays will show you just how far I have come since I have partaken in the English 109-G class with Dr. Stutts. The essays I revised include the Description Essay, Narrative Essay, Argument Essay, Summary & Interpretation Essay, and Literary Analysis Essay. I know now what is necessary and required for a college level English class to pass and actually learn what is taught.…

When I started this class, I believe I had strong writing skills, and now I believe these skills have strengthened, making me a more conscious writer. Before this class, I have not focused on aspects such as sentence length and specific words that I am using. Instead, I simply wrote and worked on proper grammar. My essay writing skills have definitely improved throughout this class simply due to the fact that I spend more time writing my essays. Now that I have mastered more skills, I can utilize them in every essay from here on out. While I know that I still have room to improve, I am pleased by my progress and I feel more confident about my writing. I have always enjoyed writing essays, but this class has helped me more fully understand the complexities of writing an essay. Previously, most essays I have written have been standard for English classes, and…

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore, send the homeless tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” Reference? America has long been the land of freedom and hope to the world, and the American military is what has kept her that way. People have forgotten how important and valuable the military is to the world that we live in. As part of the Budget Control Act of 2011, automatic sequestration calls for $1.2 trillion in lowered federal spending, with 50% coming from defense and 50% coming from non-defense budgets. If Congress cannot reach an agreement, these cuts will reduce the Department of Defense spending by about $55 billion dollars. On September 11, 2001, the United States faced a difficult time in which 3,000 lives were lost due to an attack upon the U.S. by terrorists who hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the United States Pennsylvania! That day, 9/11, has become a day in which we remember the lives that were lost and the families who were affected by such a tragedy. We called on our military once again, and they were there to protect our country. I am against automatic sequestration towards the military and military programs for many reasons.…

I think that I challenged myself to receive good grades, and that I have done so this semester. I am eager to find out new or different things that I have some knowledge about, but I was amazed at the things I thought were right with counseling issues that I was completely wrong about. I am sure that I still have a long way to go, and many new things to learn. I feel that I was entirely invested in this class and all the assignments that were given to me. I wasn’t late on any assignments and many times had the assignment finished before it was due. I read each chapter carefully and was interested in each new thing that I found. I always want to do my very best in each class that I take. I returned back to college when I was 40 years old. This was something that I had dreamed of for many years, but was afraid to try it. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to school. I am glad that I made this decision even if it was many years after I should have done it.…

In times like today, people have mixed views on smoking and on the effects it has on the human body. Most people who smoke, feel that non-smokers are against them, and believe in the myths that are portrayed by cigarette companies. They do not realize how addictive cigarettes are, and end up stuck with the burden. I feel that her entire article is truly opinionated and biased about non-smokers and she really doesn’t have the hard evidence, just personal experience.…

Writing is always difficult and takes a long time, this is my first impression about any writing class. Not only because of its techniques, but also the language was a big obstacle. I don’t see myself as a good writer and writing for me is just a required task I have to get it done. I moved to the United States three years ago. I have taken English as a first foreign language in my Egyptian school beside Arabic --my native language--. When I moved here and started school, I placed in an ESL class for a quarter and then moved to regular English classes after that. When I start the writing courses here at UCI, I wasn’t happy about my placement. After, I was taking a regular English classes in high school, I placed in AC English 20C/D. I wished that I had gotten placed in a more advanced writing course. But after finishing these academic courses, I can admit that my enrollment was not a waste and it was the right choice. During these courses, I have improved in many different areas. Doing the essay in three drafts required me to go over and reconsider my essay…

This class has taught me many things about myself along with many necessary skills needed while writing. I know now that, through hard work and determination, I can achieve what I might think to be impossible. While reflecting back on my initial writing abilities, I see the weak, uneducated style of writing. Each essay shows my progression and improvement, and, after a while, the class began to become much easier. Today, after practicing throughout my essays this semester, I believe that I, in fact, have…

Persuasive Essay : Many people would be happy and satisfied if they were in a relationship with money and fame. Doesn't that seem like the perfect life? Everyone begins to think that in life that's all that matters, and that's all they need, nothing could be better. Society dictates our morals, feelings, the way we do things and try's to tell us certain things we do are wrong and we need to do them the way they feel necessary. Our generations to come will have no clue what the meaning of a true, harmonious, happy life. They begin to think that not telling the truth is ok , and eventually get so use to it that even if they could hear the truth they wouldn't want to. It becomes part of their daily life. Clearly our society, or government has their own sneaky, conniving ways to try and brain wash everyone. Due to the problem that most people would rather have love, money, and fame, it's very rare to find some one who doesn't have any of that but is satisfied with only knowing the truth. People look up to celebrities, but they do not set good examples or try to be role models. In proposing a solution to the problem of adhering to the actions of celebrities, the analysis relates to Henry David Thoreau's belief in individuality as he talked about in his book Walden. Who is your hero? Usually the answer to this question, at least for many of us, involves a famous actor or singer, a celebrity. The celebrities of the world are the wealthiest, most beautiful and most stylish individuals to walk upon the planet. These icons, however, seem to have no moral dilemma whatsoever with corrupting the public. They are role models to the public, just as parents are role models to their children. Children mirror the actions of their parents, as does society the actions of celebrities. Suddenly, few people in the world are content because they do not live the same lifestyle as Madonna or Michael Jordan. Henry David Thoreau offers solutions in his work, Walden, to the constant societal…

When I first walked into AP Lang and Comp, I thought this is going to be another year filled with horrible writing and pointless reading but to my surprise I was wrong. On our first in class essay I scored a 4 slightly above average and ended the quarter with a score of 6 which was nearly double the average score. The jump from getting a score that was slightly above average to double the average was not one that came with ease, especially given the fact that I was absent quite often. Taking into account the fact that I was gone often, as stated before, it took a significant work out of class to both better myself and my writing which shows my motivation and enthusiasm to surpass my…
