Dear Superintendent Gundry,

Have you ever had a cool, delicious, delectable glass of chocolate milk? If so, you’ll know that the delicious drink’s rich taste also comes with 9 essential nutrients for kids. Kids must have the option to drink chocolate milk at lunchtime because it will get kids to drink more milk, it is healthy and tasty at the same time, and kids will resort to sodas if chocolate milk is taken away.

What if you could satisfy their sweet tooth while getting them 9 different key nutrients to stay healthy? The answer is chocolate milk. If you took it away, kids would not drink milk. This means they need calcium now! To get that calcium, they need to drink chocolate milk. This is because, kids won’t be able to get those nutrients easily, with the cost being an average $4,680 per grade per year to replace the nutrients of milk with other foods.

Finally, if you eliminate chocolate milk, kids will drink sodas, which is terrible! Sodas have no nutritional value. They also have tons of added sugar. Mountain Dew has 3.85 grams of added sugar per ounce. If a kid drank one can of Mountain Dew every day, in a year, they would have 16,863 grams of sugar. That’s 37.176551 pounds! In one study with six schools participating, an average of 67% of kids stopped drinking milk at school when chocolate milk was taken away. That means 67% of children could have 37 pounds of sugar each year. If this happens, the kids could gain up to 37 pounds of fat. This is a big problem.

In conclusion, kids must have the option to drink chocolate milk at lunchtime because it will get kids to drink more milk, it is healthy and tasty at the same time, and kids will resort to sodas if chocolate milk is taken
