I had gotten a lot of scars by friends, co-workers and family. I know that I don’t have to meet and make relationships with almost all people who gave me the scars. However, until now, I cannot forget the bad memories and overcome it. The most serious problem is the relationship with my mother. I have to sustain the relationship because we love each other. However, I often feel that the ways she loves me and tried to take part in my life are too strong and uncomfortable. In my opinion, she does not have her own life. The most important things for her are her husband’s business and her son’s career. She needs to have her own life and enjoy something what she really wants. Of course, I know that I have to try to understand her feeling, but it is not easy. It is because, nowadays, I want to focus on only my life and happiness. I want to have my independent life from my family. I cannot sure how I can make both of us happy. It is not easy, and it has made a lot of bad memories. I want to overcome

My dad left my mom five years ago for another women. The break-up was hard for everyone, but it wasn 't a surprise. Even though he did this horrible thing, he still continued to be in the lives of my brother and I. My mom felt very abandoned; she loved being in a marriage and her religious beliefs were very important to her; like not getting a divorce, or trying to work everything out no matter what. My parents had been married for thirteen years and they had always loved each other, but things were never equal in the marriage. My mom was always doing more than my dad, and I think that was the biggest problem in my parents ' relationship. My mom did the cooking, the cleaning, and taking care of the children, all while holding a full time job and going back to school. After the divorce, my mom decided to change her lifestyle, so we sold our house in Sumter to find a new start. Columbia offered a new start, new opportunities and a better environment, so my mom took it. I hated moving to Columbia. I became very stubborn; stopped playing soccer, a sport I knew that would take me somewhere in the future, I totally became secluded to myself and I never talked to…

Let’s step back for a moment so I can explain the relationship I had with my mother because it was not your normal one. My mother was so much more to me than just a mom, she was my best friend I told her everything and she told me everything. We spent many late nights talking about everything in life from how our day went to what life would hold for us in the future. My mother was one of those people who never wanted or asked for anything for herself but was one who gave everything and would do anything for her children. When I say her children I don’t just mean her biological ones, she took care and provide for so…

Our memories are also constructive and easily influenced by all sorts of factors: stress, expectation, belief, and the introduction of new information. Added to all this is the selectivity of memory. We selectively remember certain things and ignore others, setting up a recall bias. No wonder the recall of eyewitness is often unreliable.…

This common brain myth haunted me for several years as I played soccer. At first, I was very hesitant to commit for a ball in the air because of the possibility of colliding heads with the opposition. I ultimately realized the end result may have been a severe head injury or concussion, as I have witnessed several incidents regarding teammates. Thus, I only went for smart challenges in the air and avoided reckless mistakes on the field.…

This was the scare of my life . I was cruising dirt roads in my jeep with a couple of friends, and we weren’t making very good choices that day . we were all drinking beer even though we were only 16, and I decided to try and show off for my friends and drift around a corner . Well needless to say that did not turn out very well at all. We made it around the corner and then i saw a truck coming our direction. So i tried to straighten it out before I should have and we slid out of control and hit the ditch while sliding sideways and hit a fence which caused us to start to tip over but somehow i turned the wheels just right and saved it . After we were back on all four tires we slid across the road and just barely missed the truck…

Filled with nervous excitement, my ten-year-old-self ran to the bulletin board eager to discover whether or not he was accepted to the choir. After my second year in high school, I made a decision that would turn out to be life changing. This decision wasn’t life changing in the way that getting married or going to college would be, but I really learned a lot about myself that summer. What I’m about to tell you is what happened when I switched from Marching Band to Football. I will explain to you why this switch was such a big deal to me and what I learned about myself from it. Switching from Marching Band to Football after my Sophomore year of high school changed the way I saw myself because I found I have a strong enough will to follow my heart despite controversy with others, I have a strong desire to be in control of my life, and I have an aggressive side that had not shown itself before.…

I went into my junior spring soccer season kind of sad, my past coach, wasn't going to be our team coach this year. I wasn't really depressed though, because I had tons of friends that were playing this year. One of the great things about spring club soccer is that it is not a school-sanctioned sport. To me this said that I was able to play another season of soccer with my friends from other schools around the state without the normal High School rivalry between us. Year after year, the schools pulled pranks on each other, sometimes nothing big, but sometimes something big. I remember my freshman or sophomore year, when a few guys I knew went over to Elkins and put up “ESE” signs all over the commons. When they walked in to school the next day and the lights came on, the signs and blue and white shot all over the room. They were extremely angry, which is why it was such a good prank.…

We are all humans; therefore, we all make mistakes, but one thing that comes out of our mistakes is a lesson well learned. As I look back to all the things I've done, I regret the time I felt ashamed of myself. Easter of 2004 my godmother decided to invite us to her house for an egg hunt. I was told by my mom that the eggs had candy and nothing else. As we were heading out, I decided to bring my little purse, and we got inside the car full of joy. We were on our way to my Godmother's house for the egg hunt.…
