They cleared out half the herd in ten hours but it would take more reinforcements. They were running out of ammo fast so I climbed out the attic window and got on the roof with my hunting rifle and tried to hold the hord off so the army could take a break for a minute.when reinforcements arrived the hoard was just piling up and it as the end of the horde so we could all rest.

The trail continued around the east side of the lake entering a gathering of trees forming an insignificant forest along the lake’s shoreline. From our viewpoint, the trees concealing the trail eventually dispersed on the southeast side of the lake, and the trail blended into the landscape. Using our imagination, we envisioned the route against the rugged terrain sloping into the lake. No point in taking a vote now, we had trekked to the lake and the consensus was to proceed with a lap around the lake.…

3 people fell into a ditch as we were running and were slaughtered by the bear. Everyone was panicking and running, and many fell over and were attacked by the bear. My group got away by doing sharp turns and running around trees, but was badly injured. I was horrified and grabbed some leaves to help my group, but only myself, Froog, Googa, Berg, and the dogs lived, and a majority of our group was dead. We walked out of the woods, and buried the bodies.…

It’s November, so that means its deer season. Every year deer season starts on the second weekend of November and last for ten days. I get really excited around August because during this time my family and I start exploring the woods looking for signs of deer. We look for signs like scrapes on trees, footprints, and tall grass that looks like it has been laid on and flattened. We set salt blocks out around our tree stands and set our cameras out hoping to catch a picture of a big buck. After we finish all the preparing we wait until the first week of November. During the first week of November we go back to our stands, check the salt blocks, set new blocks out, and grab our cameras to take back home. Once we get home we look at the pictures…

There were a few zombies here and there on the street. Suddenly I heard an explosion-- the grenade. I looked back down the ally, something started on fire down there, yes, I just bought myself more time. I ran trying to get past the zombies with our shooting (so I wouldn't attract more). The world was a mess, the streets were filled with cars, there were corpses everywhere, buildings deserted. As I was walking past a few corpses, one started to move. I pointed my rifle muzzle on the corpse, it started to crawl towards me, it's lower half was cut off, I'm guessing it was run over by a car, it came very close. I didn't want to waste any of my bullets or attract more of the undead, so I pulled out my machete. I started hacking away, the zombies head was obliterated in a matter of seconds.…

Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…

Growing up in rural Kansas was boring. Especially since I grew up in the seventies. There were no cell phones or game systems to occupy my time. My family had an old black and white television set. I loved to watch The Price is Right in the days before Bob Barker’s hair turned white. After the show was over, the only way to kill time was to play outside and wander down to the creek that ran parallel to our property. There was a secret trail buried in the wall of trees that lined our two acre yard. My brother and I would slide down the trail, landing on the dirt banks like explorers on a mission. Sometimes we would hunt for crawdads under rocks. Other times we would take our poles and fish. We never went into the water after the time I got bit by a gar.…

I curl up in a corner of my tank and wait I know something is going to happen. I have a suspicion of what is going on. The zombie apocalypse began just over five years ago. I have kept track of the seasons since the day I realized I couldn’t do much else. Humans must have built this place when it first began but i wonder why all of us weren’t put in this eden. They might have begun a cure program and that might explain why the other zombies don’t resemble the rest of us. I began wonder if that is possible when a guy in a lab coat comes in.…

Not only is hunting an exhilarating experience but so is the feeling of being surrounded by wilderness. During winter times since I was 12 years old, my father would take me out on long drives in the middle of winter to hunting sites just outside of Edmonton. What made the drive not seem so long was the scenic route we would always take. Every once in a while I would see little white rabbits hopping around and leaving miniature footprints all in the snow next to the road. Further down the road we would pass a fairly big hill that had two pine trees at the top of it. I always wondered how long they had been there considering the fact that they were over thirty feet high. Finally we would get to the hunting ground and make are way down to a little patch of brush where we would crouch and wait for the deer to pass by. The feeling of the cold snow crunching under my boots, the frost covered branches of the bush we were nestled under, and all the little footprints that surrounded us gave me a feeling of unity with nature. After hiding in our spots for a long while, usually until my feet and toes were completely frozen it seemed, my father would whisper “Here comes one right now”. A few moments later I’d hear a loud bang and we’d be back on the road with our trophy and bragging rights. We have carried on this tradition every…

An intense feeling that you wish you will never experience again. I have always considered myself as a brave and courageous individual. On May 5th, as I woke up from a wonderful sleep, I found that my house has been invaded by monstrous creature know as Zombies. They were over the fence of my backyard and I still needed to gather some important material before sneaking off my navigator. I said to the children, “Quiet down, get low to the ground and do not let them see you!” The kids were extremely frightened, but there was no time to freeze with fear. I had to get out of there with my family as soon as possible. I knew they would find their way inside the home in a matter of minutes; so I quickly grabbed some weapons, knifes, bats, and anything sharp or hard I could find I my surrounding.…
