Personal Narrative: The Monkey's Paw
¨I wish for this day to start over!!¨ I yelled. The monkey's paw shook in my hand, I dropped it. Then time just seemed to freeze the monkey's paw was slowly fading disappearing you could say as it was getting closer to the ground. My wife, Mrs.White was getting closer to opening the front door scared of what my eyes might see I closed them. Wishing everything went away I opened my eyes to see a white light had filled the room but still very slowly like everything else moving.

¨NOOO!!!¨ I cried out in hesitation. Later then seeing I was in my room seeing the sun barely shining through the windows I was confused?. ¨Walter! What are you yapping about? You are gonna wake us all up.¨ Mrs.White yelled. ¨Sorry sweety¨ I said confused still not knowing

Still not understanding anything I just sat down. The day seemed to go by really fast all I really remember was waiting on my son. Also totally forgetting about my waffles really surprised they didn't burn I Placed them almost 6 hours ago. I quickly ran and disconnected it from the outlet.

I then realized how quiet it was. There was something missing. Uhm let me think Herbert is at the store. Suddenly it hit me ¨that's it¨ ¨Honey! I think you should get out of bed now.¨ There was still dead silence. I went as quick as I could hoping nothing terrible had happened to her.

“Honey!!” I yelled if what might of happened. I opened the door and pulled the blanket cover. She was there but she was whiter and thinner . I realized it she was disappearing. Not knowing what to do I suddenly heard a knock on the door. “Herbert!” I said in relief I ran downstairs to inform him but what had happened before made me think.

I don't want him to stress I should just keep this a secret and try and help her myself. I opened the door and greeted him . We were getting ready to play chess. We played for about an hour or so then I completely ended up forgetting about our guest. Thinking he wouldn't show up either way he

The Monkey’s Paw, written by W.W. Jacobs, is a short story about the consequences of messing with fate. Mr. White is a simple man living with his wife, Mrs. White, and his grown son, Herbert. One evening Sergeant-Major Morris, a family friend back from India, visits them and shows them a monkey’s paw he had gotten there, saying that it will grant a man three wishes, but that it was made to prove that when you mess with fate, bad things happen. Even with the warning, Mr. White uses the monkey’s paw to grant his wishes, and soon pays the price. I think the theme of this story is basically, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”…

She then started to weep from the realization that the footsteps were from the attacker. As her husband tried to comfort his grieving wife, I asked him what was taken from the house. He thought for a moment and then replied, “Nothing, not a God damn thing.”…

Pressing the buttons on the old oven till I hear it finally beep indicating that the timer has started. I go into the living room with my sister settling into the suede couch, putting my feet on the coffee table, trying to contain my excitement about the movie. Every once in awhile Brooke would make this noise, like a grunt almost. I just thought it was her reacting to the sounds of the slasher killing people one by one. The smell of the cookies were getting pretty intense, filling up the room with the smell. As I get up to check on them, Brooke suddenly clutches my arm and looks up at me saying, “Maggi, I think I’m in labor.” My whole body goes limp instead of my eyes that were wide open. My heart begins beating so loud that it’s all that I can hear. I start to panic saying a bunch of unrecognizable words and questions. In that moment, I realized that I need to make her more comfortable, to do that I needed to take my panic nature and put it down deep. I take a couple deep breaths and tell my sister to breath like “hehe-oo” repeatedly, since that’s the only knowledge I remember from the episode in Lost where she has a baby in the…

May 19th, 2013 I had dreamt of that day for almost four years. I know I can’t be the only person who feel this way. I remember it as if it was just yesterday.
