Personal Narrative: The Game Of Hockey
Yuliya looked at Tyler and I saying “Why are you guys not sad we are losing?”
I said back “No matter what happens in this game hockey is hockey, and you can not find me upset at the sport because the goals that the Blues and Jets have scored where all good hockey goals.”
She looked at Tyler and I and agreed and stated that she still wanted the Blues to win, just as we all did. But you can't win them all. We stayed and watched the whole because we are dedicated fans, and Yuliya wanted to take pictures of the rink and almost every corner of the rink because she thought it was her last time inside Scottrade Center, and wanted to remember what she experienced for the first time in the U.S.
After we got into the car to sit in traffic Yuliya said to all of us “Now I know why all you like it (hockey) so much.”

Louis Blues. That's all I could ask for, if she ever forgets about me, that's ok, she'll never forget about hockey.

It was a cold Monday night in East Alton, and it was game two of a best of three championship series between BTHS and Triad for the 2016-2017 MVCHA A1 Championship. With Belleville winning game one, four to zero. All Belleville needed was to win one more game to become champs. The game was intense from start to finish. From the bench you could tell that the fans of both teams were nervos for what was going to happen next for either team. The final horn went off and Belleville cleared the bench throwing there gloves sticks and helmets into the air and jumping for joy. It was the first time Belleville has ever won a hockey championship ever, and Julie was there to see it, like what are the odds that this all fell into

When asked to name a favorite place, some people’s brains may be flooded with memories of different spaces and experiences they have had. But for me, it is easy. Only one place comes to mind—the Joe Louis Arena. The home of the Detroit Red Wings is a dome rich in history and uniquely located in an American city that sits uncharacteristically north of Canada. Built in 1979, The Joe has a personality all of its own. The Joe Louis Arena is my favorite place because of the pre-game experience in the city, the historical vibe of the arena, and, of course, the excitement of the greatest game in sports.…

Throughout Garnets time back home many events have had an effect on understanding who he really is but the hockey game as an event really showed this helping of Garnet to understand who he really is. First of all, the hockey helps in Garnets understanding of himself by letting himself relax and have fun for one of the first times since coming back home. As Garnet and Jackie both played in the hockey game they obviously were both having much fun yelling things like “Oooooo-hoo-hoo-hoo!” (Wagamese 153) and “Nice shot!” (Wagamese 153), showing the help of being relaxed and having fun in finding Garnets true self. Secondly, another way the hockey game helped Garnet find his true self is the way it connected him with his estranged brother Jackie.…

And to finish up that inning we just got a couple ground balls and we turned a double play. And for the next few innings nothing really happened both teams were struggling to hit. Now it's like the 5th inning and we have the top of our hitting order up so we had:Liam,Luke,Ryan,Alex as our 1,2,3,4 hitters. And we got a rally going and we scored a couple runs so at this point the score is 5-1 and we have the lead so then I go into the 6th inning to pitch and I can only do ⅔ of the inning so than Ryan comes in and pitches and to finish out the 7th Alex pitches a 3 strikeout inning. So the game was over and the presedent of the league gave me the game ball to keep and bring home and everyone on our team got a trophy to take home after we won we were all so happy that we won the championship because it was or a lot of people the first time they won something. The…

“And the Chicago Blackhawks have defeated the New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup for the third time in five years!” the announcer's voice boomed throughout the living room. A smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. I had never been a big Blackhawks fan, but I just extremely disliked the Rangers. On the other side of the room, my Uncle Nate was going nuts. He threw his New York cap down onto the floor and stomped in circles all around it. The Rangers jersey that had cost him more than a year of savings, considering he was unemployed, hung limply from his shoulders. Pillows and couch cushions flew back and forth across the wide room. Uncle Nate’s voice, which at that point was a mix between a wail and a shout, started giving me a headache.…

According to James Roland, “Casual fans think of hockey as a game often marred by fighting [...] Many people are turned off by this aspect of the game and some parents may discourage their kids from participating in a sport that allows the occasional fisticuffs”(Roland). Hockey fights happen, but they happen only when teammates defend each other and when there was some misunderstanding. According to James Roland, “While fighting is only a small part of the game, players and teams use it to settle differences and defend teammates”(Roland). When players defend their team players, they also motivate, and help them continue to exercise.…

Shoulder fake left, head fake right, a sweet inside outside move, and he fires it in top shelf, beating the goalie glove side to win the game. While that may sound like a narrative of a game-winning hockey goal, in reality, it is 1:30 AM on your average Thursday night and I am struggling to find the perfect concluding sentence to finish my history term paper. Often when I am struggling to find an answer to a question or need to concentrate on any given topic, I reach for my worn-out Warrior hockey stick and my dusty orange ball and begin to stickhandle mindlessly. One might never know, that my mind is far away from hockey as I look like a complete fool deking (hockey term for getting past people) imaginary people on my way to an imaginary net.…

The team we were up against was the fierce, very talented number 2 in the state, the Rattlers. Recruiting players from all over the country to play on one team, they were a powerhouse no doubt. Josh back in the lineup after sitting out that last game and the hour break we had, he was all fueled up and ready to go. First inning comes up and they bat first putting up a enormous number of runs counting up to 10 in the first. We came back with a 2 run inning. shut them down in the second, and came back another 3 run inning cutting their lead in half. Slowly gaining momentum we knew what we came here to dude and that was to win this championship. Third inning rolls around and we shut them down for the second consecutive inning. We come to bat, three walks in a row and im due up with the bases loaded. Pitcher throwing close to 92 mph, look almost impossible to hit. first pitches goes by and my eyes widened that was the fastest thing i've ever seen right down the pipe for strike one. Next pitch same result. Third pitch i knew it was coming, i reached back threw my bat at the ball and hit a GRAND SLAM! Putting out team down just 1 run with 3 innings to…

There are events that one witnesses throughout one’s life that for various reasons leave an indelible imprint on one’s heart and soul. The unexpected victory of the US hockey over the heavily favored Russian team in the 1980 Olympic Games was one of those events. It was really awkward to walk in and, by God, it smelled atrocious. It reminded me of I soon came to realize that it was a smell that only a goalie would learn to appreciate. After learning the fundamentals of being a goalie, I soon learned to love the position. Over the last four years of goaltending, I have found something that I can call my own, which I do with vigor and excitement. Even though our team wasn’t as skilled as the others and didn’t make it to the next level after the regular season, we played with heart, and with a sense of togetherness. We held strong in the toughest of situations and came out stronger at the end. The game of field hockey is my pride and joy. It is all together, my stress reliever, my reason for being stressed and for now, the reason why I want to succeed in school and life.…
