Personal Narrative: The Bermuda Triangle
The warm ocean breeze blows across my face as we are loading onto the cruise ship. It is the summer of 2016, and my very first cruise. I brought my friend, Mariah, along with me for my first experience. We are on our way to Puerto Rico from Florida, which means we will be going through the Bermuda Triangle. There have been a lot of rumors about people disappearing or being transported into the future when they go through the Bermuda Triangle. I did not believe the rumors, but as we board the ship they are constantly running through my head. Mariah gives me a drink of water and assures me that nothing is going to happen. We are finally on the ship and getting cozy in our room. As we set off for Puerto Rico, I decide to take a nap to try and get my mind off of things. While I was sleeping, I had a crazy dream that I was transported through a time portal. As I woke up and got out of bed, I realized the bed looked different than it did when I first went to sleep. The room was also completely different than before. I grabbed my cell phone and called Mariah. …show more content…
I look around the house to try to find clues of what my future life is like. I find pictures of my family. I have 2 kids, a boy and girl. “And then as the evening changed the hour, at house after house on the twilight streets, under the immense oaks and elms, on shady porches, people would begin to appear, like those figures who tell good or bad weather in rain-or-shine clocks” (K. Flachmann and M. Flachmann 63). Suddenly, Lin beams up beside me. Lin asks, “Are you happy? Is your life the way you always wanted?” “Yes!” I answered. “I will have to get used to some of the changes, but I love my life in the future.” All of a sudden, I lift into the air like a ghost. I start flying out of the house, into the sky, above the clouds, and then I am back in my room on the cruise ship. “and the voices moved on into the coming years….” (K. Flachmann and M. Flachmann

I remember day after day going to swimming lessons in the summer of 2002 at the Mount Vernon pool. Almost every day I walked by the ladder that seemed to go on forever. I used to sit on the pools edge and watch the older kids do flips and other cool tricks off of the high dive. Many times I had gotten half way up the ladder but couldn't bring myself to go all the way up. For a seven year old going off the high dive was like a right of passage and a way to be seen as "cool" in the eyes of the older kids. Today I will be telling you about the first time a braved the high dive.…

In “Once More to the Lake” by E.B. White a man’s deja vu in his trip with his son makes him realize, almost violently, that his life is quickly approaching its end. In his revelation he finds that every moment that passed had brought him closer and closer to death. While this sudden realization might send others into a spiral of depression, the author chooses to reflect fondly on the past and spur himself into action for his future. It does not benefit anyone to dwell on the past and ignore the future. Time will continue to progress, despite any action to slow or stop it. The only thing that can be done is to seize that moment and propel them into the future. Stop in the moment, truly look around at the world, move forward in life with a sense of purpose, whatever that purpose may be. Release any negativity or regrets that would only serve to slow progression, and allow the potential for happiness to overflow instead. Spend life in a state of contented peace, do not rush or delay. One must allow themselves to be…

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…

I remember that morning perfectly, Macy and I left to begin our road trip to the Florida Keys more specifically, Key West.We woke up at 5:00 am,and her grandparents were coming to pick us up at 5:30 to begin our trip.We went to bed late the previous night because we were just so excited to be going together. Nearing the end of the tube I can almost see the shore, It feels as if I've been riding this wave for days. This wave is my hurdle in the ocean that is life, choppy at the beginning but slowly passing by. The ocean has many waves, one for each surfer to ride, my specialty wave happened to be dyslexia. It was in the second grade that my teacher first realized I was different from the other students, because I had yet to read my first book. My parents had found this odd as well, and took me to see a neurologist, who diagnosed me as having dyslexia. I did not quite know what this meant at the time, I only knew that it was the reason I could not comprehend the topics as easily as my classmates.…

As a kindergartener, when I grew up I wanted to be a princess, or own a hamster farm, or never really grow up at all. In second grade I developed an obsession with the ocean and what lives in it, specifically sharks. Because of my love of sharks I decided that when I grew up I wanted to be a marine biologist. When I made this decision I never knew what a big part math played in this profession. Math has always been my biggest weakness when it came to my education. I would spend hours trying to understand all the numbers and what to do with them. I know now regardless of my love of the ocean, I would have ended up being miserable having to spend the rest of my life constantly feeling confused and idiotic.…

I counted the number bottle caps in the kitchen today, it upset me how long I have been here and that no one from home has sent another ship for us yet. Every single day I drink a bottle of water and place my cap in a bowl carved of stone in the kitchen, I counted 467 today. A year-and-a-half I have been here, and no one has sent another ship. My crew and I knew it would most likely be a dead end mission, the ship was poorly built to begin with and the amount of fuel on Earth was just enough to get to Planet X, but questionable to get back. The supplies on Earth, from fuel to food are dwindling, and our species as we know it is running out of time. My crew came here to find a new home for the people on Earth, studies on this planet suggest…

Suddenly, a glistening flash emerged from the darkness as the ocean tossed Neptune’s Privateer atop the void. “What is happening?” I yelled “We are in The Bermuda Triangle!” said Kipling “Anything could become of us at this point, we may perish or find our way out through a miracle.” Forthwith the vessel sprouted through the raining sky and abruptly fell once more. I am not sure what became of us until the following morning as I awoke on dew dripped grass with specks of sand draped across from my torso to beneath my boots. “Aye, that was an addled idea on me part, forgive me lads.” said Hassett. The crew and I had awoken on the island in which we voyaged to, only it seemed more bizarre than before. “Let us all search this unfamiliar ground, split up in pairs of two.” said Hassett “Alton and I will go to the north, Leopold and Oran will travel to the west, Kipling and Blair will trek to the east, and Denver and John will go…

Starting from a place I remembered as a teen, moving from a place that was warm to a place that had all four seasons; such as winter, spring, summer and fall. The First place that I grew up was surrounded by mountains. During the winter it was full of white snow, something that I was never used to seeing coming from California where all one would see was sandy beaches and the waves clasping one another. As I remember being so new to Park City, UT all I could see was the wonderful views of trees, mountains and people skiing or snowboarding. I have to say this was a fond memory because for the firs time I was actually able to experience the feeling of what winter was…

Going on a vacation is something we all look forward to, especially when you get to spend time with family and experience something unique. My family and I go to the beaches in Florida every summer and spend time relaxing and enjoying our time together, away from school and work. To get away from our normal plans, we decided to book a cruise for the Thanksgiving holiday. We had never taken a cruise and thought it would be a unique experience to share with one another and a way to see a place we had never visited, the Bahamas. My trip to Nassau, Bahamas was a great experience and led to the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, the beaches. I spent two days on a cruise ship and I thought that was the highlight of my vacation, until I arrived in Nassau and saw the beautiful beaches.…
